We all do already know for sure that Longarm Prime is actually Shockwave in disguise. With that said, how and where did he get this Autobot disguise from? And what does Hasbro mean when they say that Shockwave did stole his Autobot identity from old historical files?

I think they mean that Longarm may have actually been a real Autobot, seperate from Shockwave, and he scanned his form and can now transform into him.

    But that's just my logic.

I agree with MPD dude. It's like how TFs scan new alt modes, only he scanned another, long past bot as a disguise.

The Hasbro bio kinda clashes with the show a little bit on this subject. In the show it was Sentinel that gave Shockwave the name "Longarm" based on his limb extention ability. According to the Hasbro Bio, as you stated, Shockwave stole the Longarm Identity from old historical files.

Now what I think may have happened is that Shockwave might have gotten into the Autobot historical files somehow (he seems more than capable of hacking the Autobot's network), and may have based his Autobot appearence on an old veteran (or maybe a combination of multiple soldiers) but never took his/their name. And of course his alternate appearence is gonna be unique in it's own right because of the combination of Shockwave components along with the characteristics of the Autobot(s) he may have gotten data from in the files. Then the events up until and including Autoboot camp take place, he gets his name and the show goes on.

That's just what I think though. It sounds better in my head than what I typed down, it didn't come out quite right typed out. Maybe Season 3 will go into better detail on Shockwave.

Actually, if you read it carefully, it doesn't clash at all. It says he "Stole his AUTOBOT identity from old historical files.", not that he stole it from a bot named Longarm. The Autobot from the old historical files was real, but there's nothing saying that the bot's name was Longarm.

Yup. The bot he stole the form from didn't need to be named Longarm. He could have been named "Scubahead" for all we know. :p

Scubahead would make an AWESOME Autobot name. Or name for a cat, for that matter.

    Scubaheadimus Prime...

here's a thought though, and thinking of sticking this in it's own thread

Now that the cats out of the bag, isn't Shockwave's "gimmick" over?

where does he go from here?

the writers have said they "go with the tech specs, not the comics" when looking for inspiration. And quotes talking casette animals, smart Grimlock and backstabbing Shockwave as examples

But Shockwave's underhanded, cold and calculating nature WAS part of his original tech spec, right?

And how many one-eyed, super loyal 'cons does Megatron need? (ie Lugnut)
