I don't see why some didn't like Indiana Jones 4. To steal from a previous post of mine:

1st movie- Ghosts and the Ark of the Covenant
2nd movie- Cult revolving around doomsday or something like that.
3rd movie- Holy grail, guarded by a man who has lived the last 1,000 years.

Aliens are too far-fetched now? :lol

Oops, not aliens. I mean, Interdimensional beings...

I liked Indy4. Not the best of the series, but it still had that genuine Indy feel to it.

I don't really recall criticism of the overall theme (although I may have missed it), but there seemed to be more of an issue with the execution. That and the monkeys, of course, which seemed to be the work of Lucas and indicative of the silliness that overwhelms many contemporary films..

EDIT: After actually reading the link, there is some blame directed toward the monkeys, rightly, by LaBeouf.

    Dear Shia,

Criticizing the work of the directors that are getting you such major jobs isn't the best way to go about getting future work from them.

That being said, I liked Indy 4, but the Tarzan monkey swinging was fucking stupid.

Or too look at it another way. Indy 1 and 3=strong Judeo-Christian themes, Indy 2 and 4=little to no Judeo-Christian themes. Indy 1 and 3, considered the good ones. Indy 2 and 4, considered the bad ones. Coincidence?

I hate these movies, soo much.

I love the Indiana Jones franchise, but I'll be the first to admit Indy's movie are full of goofy crap. Temple of Doom is a great example... First you have the 3 of them survive not one but TWO free falls in friggin blow up raft. Then you have the mine car chase scene with the part where the mine cart ramps over a section of missing track and lands PERFECTLY on the other side? C'mon... It's all goofy bull$hit, but it's damn good movie watchin'!

I don't think he dropped the ball with the monkey scene. I think the director gave him a turd and asked him to polish it, and to his credit he polished it to the best of his ability...

Honestly, the aliens are the least of the film's long list of problems for me.

I love me some Indy, but just can not stand IV.

I honestly don't remember the monkey scene. Might have watch it again.

For the record, KotKC is my 3rd favorite. I can't stand Temple of Doom.

The fridge nuking = dumb. The monkeys = dumb.

Aside from that though, I liked KotCS.

Or maybe he's a bit nervous about his big movies being considered lacking, and that he will be typecast as the bumbling idiot from here on out.

I must admit, I did not like Indy 4 at all (for me, Raiders of the Lost Ark is still by far the best of the four films) but I don't think Shia did a bad job in it at all, in fact, he was one of the highlights for me.
Whilst the Nuked fridge and the Tarzan sequence did make me groan, the main problem I had with the film was the anti-climactic ending and the overall dull story.

    How is this TF news?

Anyway, laughably, I don't blame him for KotCS, I blame Lucas and Spielberg for that. The fridge, the go nowhere story, etc.

I was kinda ok with (almost) everything in Indy IV right up until the horrible jungle chase sequence.

I love KOTCS. It was probably the best damn movie Shia has ever been in.

I guess we can expect comments on Disturbia and Eagle Eye any day now from him (Which by the way were horrible movies IMO).

To me, this movie doesn't exist. Indiana Jones is a trilogy.

I like what Patton Oswalt has to say about Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. All of the other movies have epic and dramatic endings. Raiders has him defeating Nazi and getting the ark, Doom has him saving the village and kissing the girl, Crusades has Indy and his dad riding into the sunset, Kingdom....old people walking slowing.

I like it, too. I thought it was a good movie and Shia did pretty good in that role.
