The first one was one of my favorite movies of all time, and I'll be damned if I don't see this one.

Rachel McAdams isn't in the sequel, but I'm excited to see Noomi Rapace as the new female lead.

Loved the first one and Jared Harris looks to be a great Moriarty

Cool, looking forward to it - especially since McAdams isn't in it. I can't stand her.

Honestly though I'm more looking forward to the second season of the BBC series Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

Absolutely loved the first film, but I must say this trailer hasn't got me particularly excited. I'll hold off on any final judgement until we get closer to the film's release, as I have faith in, at the very least, Robert Downey, Jr.'s performance.

Definitely a great movie. Though I can't really say it's better than the first, but definitely on-par. The
    death of Irene
was very unexpected. Also, the ending was really nice...
though I feel if they had left it a mystery, it would have been better. The way that they ended it makes it feel like they now have to do a third one, when I would be perfectly fine with them ending it with this
    .

Slightly off-topic, something about the part of the train scene where Holmes' make-up is all messed-up made me, and a friend of mine, think that RDJ could feasibly play the role of the Joker. The way the make-up was messed-up looked very Joker-ish, and the way he was talking and acting in that particular scene made me think of the Joker. I'm not sure if he would ever do it, but I wold love to see him give it a shot. I doubt many will agree with me on that...

    She is in it

Looking at the date of your post (July of 2011) I doubt you saw it then

    The
death of Irene was expected for me because she was only in a little bit of the trailer and wasn't in the teaser at all. Plus she didn't get the top three billing so I figured she ate it early on and I was right. What I was more surprised about was the lack of emotion from SHerlock. I thought Irene's death would be his motivation for going after Moriarty but really it was a glance at the hankercheif and that was it

The did the whole part with where he is thinking out moce by move but they did it differently, it was...weird, almost like someone else coming and giving their "interpretation" of it.

So how is Professor Moriarty in this [no spoiler please]? Is his actor good? Is he the scheming Magnificent Bastard I expect him to be?

I loved this film, it kept me entertained throughout. Holmes is even more eccentric than he as ever been, but his eccentric is what defies his brilliance. But his fighting skills he ups the anti. If anyone had his mind 2day he could put nearly every CIA tv show to shame, his brilliance seems so unreal. His line that sums up the brilliance of holmes, (seeing everything, that is my curse). But his rivalry with Moriarty is screen gold, no fighting just the battle of mind games, and both always have something even more brilliant up their sleeve.

But everyone will be saying this now, the next film has to be the hound of the baskervilles

It was entertaining and I usually love anything with RDJ but overall I didn't think this one was as good as the first. A switch in ladies didn't work as well as hoped either.
The interaction and camaraderie that Holmes and Watson had in the first movie just wasn't in the 2nd and the stunts didn't seem as fabulous as the first movie either... just my :2c:
Sadly, I left the theater feeling a bit cheated and disappointed by this one.

It was good, but I think that the BBC Sherlock series is way better

Me too, I am so disappointed in that train scene, that Watson did not give Holmes mouth to mouth. :(
