I picked up a second hand (but working perfectly) Dreamcast on eBay at the weekend, and it arrived today. It came with 24 games (mostly bog standard racing games and the like, but there was a copy of Soul Calibur in there, which I loved), but it also had Shenmue 2 with it.
    FINALLY!
After all these years since the DC went belly up, I finally have the sequel to my all time favourite game.
So, anyone here played Shenmue 2? What can I expect from it? And how many people here played the first game, and what did you think of it?

I played the first game, but never the sequel. At the time, it was an amzing game. But I haven't played it in years now, so I'm not sure how well it's held up.

Now that you have a DC, you must get Toy Commander. It's a blast if you have a few friends around.

The first one was a clunky, poorly executed mess.

    I loved it.

It's one of my favourite games ever. The combat is improved and I found the story to be just as involving as the original. It's a fantastic game and you cannot play I and not II. I know we'll never see III and IV like we were promised, but I still rank Shenmue amongst my top titles ever.

I need them on PC dammit...

I believe it was released in Europe for the DC also.

Never was able to pick up Shenmue 2. That made me sad, as I'm a huge fan of the first. Best Dreamcast game ever, and one of my top 10 all time.

One highly underrated game/sim that gets forgotten about these days is Seaman. That was a shitload of fun. Plus, what's better than a freaky mutant fish with the voice of Leanord Nimoy berating you and insulting you all the time?

Best part of Seaman was leaving him on when leaving the house, then someone going near my room and hearing him.

Shenmue 2 did grace the Xbox as well, if memory serves me correctly, so there is some hope in getting it if you have that as well.

I loved the first Shenmue...never completed it unfortunately...But I played the hell out of it.

The dialogue was a bit forced and full of hilarity. But it was fun to explore, buy different items from the machines, play games in the arcade.

I have two copies of Shenmue 2 (the Euro DC one and the one for the Xbox) but never played it.

I think if you stick with the game you will love it! :thumb

Excellent score and congratulations by the way! I hope you enjoy all the DC-goodness! :D

I picked up a European copy of Shenmue II shortly after it was released for the Dreamcast. Its a lot better than the first game and I loved the first one. The new characters, fighting, etc made it great. Have fun with it.

    I have Shenmue 2, never played 1.

Shenmue 2 was awesome, I loved it and beat it, them wondered where the next one was. Bah. Shame we'll probably never see a sequel.

And its probably perfect for downloadable episodoc content too. Bah and double bah. Oh and I caught the falling cherry blossom first time!

Shenmue 2 kicked so much ass it was definetly better than the first. I hope AM2 get its mind right and starts working on Shenmue 3 for 360 and PS3.
