So I'm downsizing my collection but the majority of the items i am keeping I want to display in something like an ikea detolf. Unfortunately there isn't a store anywhere near where I live that I can see on their site. Does anyone know of an alternative besides building my own which I don't want to do.

You could buy a cheap bookcase like the big one you see in my photo collection. Then possibly "if you can find it" put a big sheet of plexiglass in front of it perhaps.
What is your goal, to keep dust off them, or just display them nicely? Personally I prefer them out in the open sort of speak.

I searched the entire town I live in and not one store carries a glass display case for under 500 dollars, I was starting to wonder if I was going around asking for plutonium or something :(

Mainly I want to have a nice display and at the same time reduce dust to a minimum which I think those cabinets do nicely.

Can't you just get stuff delivered from IKEA? I would have thought you could order on their site and they'll deliver?

IKEA glass display cases are surprisingly awesome for toy display, I think loads of people here use them.

Having said that I don't know if they deliver, I pass a couple of IKEAs on my working rounds all the time...

Edit, yeah IKEA US does home delivery, same charge whatever the order. Ask folk on here exactly what IKEA cases they use and order away. I'm pretty certain they'll work out UNDER $500 each...

Detolfs are good but small. I want something bigger. Like something you'd find in a comic store. Where would I go for something like that??

I know what you mean. I have my Star Wars clones in a display case. Looking around for one the average was like $1000. *sigh*. Well, I found a store that was closing down (through craigs list) and they sold me a large display case for $100. I have about 400 + clones in there. Maybe try that?

I will. But not right now...I'm on my lunch break at work. I must admit though, the display case needs a lil TLC, but it works. I'll have pics of it up later this morning.

Unfortunately I can. I've had to dust some dusty ass figures in the past. A bunch of GI Joes and Transformers. Never again. I need a cabinet asap.

Thanks  , I started collecting clones about 1999 to 2000. Been collecting ever since. Most of the ones you see in there were purchased through ebay through sellers that sold "lots" of them.

I remember troop building Joes. And I did a few clone troopers. But nothing like that. Bravo. I guess next time I'll go for lots because buying them from the store really isn't cost effective lol.

It isn't! Hell I remember buying all those battle packs for those specific one or two troopers. Then I found some sellers on ebay selling lots. That alone has saved me a lot of money and gas! Only problem is....most of the sellers I see selling the lots of clones I want are overseas....so ya gotta wait for them to come to you in the mail.

Right now, I'm waiting on the Riot Control clones to come out ;)  I could buy them from those sellers right now, but as it stands, none of them include the riot shield or stick with the clone, just the DC-15 blaster.
