The system I'm looking to replace (currently located in the garage) has lasted since the early 90s. It still works reasonably well with the exception of the garbled digital display. I think the remote just bit it as well. Anyhoo, it's time to move on.

I don't need anything super fancy. Just a good quality system with whatever the "standard" features are today. I would imagine that basically means cd & mp3 playback which is all I would really use it for anyway. I don't care about iPod (or similar) connectivity.

Can anyone throw out a decent recommendation? Heh, I've let my Consumer Reports subscription lapse.
