It would be awesome, but it wouldn't work. Remember, cartoons are for kids first, and kids aren't going to buy Optimus as a villain and Megs as a hero. I wouldn't have back in the 80s
Than gone have Frank Welker having his Fred-Voiced as Megatron/Galvatron,and Peter Collin with his Bad Guy for D&D cartron as Optimus Prime.
I think it would be lame, as it would require the audience to know a previous show / cast of characters just to get the concept. I could see it happening maybe as a single episode or multi-part story, but even then, its something that's been done to death on tv.
I think it'd be lame, because I don't think kids want a bad guy Optimus Prime or a good guy Megatron. As a movie? Sure, whatever.
That's my thoughts as well. It's more likely to be a "two worlds collide" story in a regular series than a full series dedicated to the concept, I think.
Hasbro wouldn't want to produce a cartoon that pretty much confuses (new) fans with everything they've done before. Imagine new fans seeing the show and forever feeling Optimus Prime is evil, and Megatron is the hero..then how are Hasbro going to sell anything to them afterwards, since it will all be 'in reverse' to those people? I agree that it would be fun as a one-off. I like the concept, even if it's been overdone. It works, especially for something like Transformers.
if they told it from the perspective of Cliff jumper jumping into another world it would be fine they just need to establish that its another world outside the norm
I do not think it would be successful the OP and Autobots are good and Megs and the Cons are evil is far to ingrained to be able to make a flip of those roles believable and it would confuse the hell out of most kids and that alone would be a fail as they buy the majority of the figures.
Apparently there was a Shattered Glass style episode planned for TFA Season 4, but as a full show, nah, Shattered Glass wouldn't work. Kids already recognize Optimus as a good guy, and Megatron as a bad guy. Switching it around would confuse too many people.
