03/23: Clear coated with the Pledge Future Finish - that shit is wonderful. I highly recommend it. SG Autobot symbols are from CapturedPrey.com - well worth the $8 or so. Thanks again for looking!

03/19: I did some touch-ups around the knees to make him more accurate to the reference picture. He looks even better now. New pictures (and vehicle mode) will be added when my insignias get here.

In all it probably took me about 16 hours to paint this figure. I had a lot of fun doing it! Sadly there's no shoulder-weapon because I don't have one. If/when I get one you can bet your petro-rabbit I'll paint it to match. The enclosed pic from tfwiki was my only reference. As usual the photo quality is quite lackluster. My htc hero can do a bunch of kick-ass things, but it doesn't take the best pictures for close-range. I hope yall enjoy it! Comments/critiques are welcomed and encouraged.

    Colors used:
    Rustoleum grey primer
    Metallic solid bronze
    Metallic Silver
    Royal Violet
    Brick Red
    Cadinal Red
    Sage Green
    Black

    All paints are acrylic.

It looks great. I've sort of been wondering why they didn't design him to look more like Detritus though. Still, this looks good.

Looks great. I did mine to look like G2 swindle before they release what he looked like in the magazine. Now i got to repaint another one. LOL!! Good job. This inspires me to get to work. ;)

Thank you all for the comments. Do check back when the stickers come; I myself haven't seen his vehicle mode either. I decided to wait until he's 100% complete.

Pretty slick! Seeing his head in those colours makes me think this mold could make a pretty cool looking, yet unconventional Hardhead. Nice job!

Is it due to the bad pic quality, or does he have a red autobot symbol? Shouldn't it be purple for shattered glass?

Bad pic quality. The HTC hero is selective with pictures. Its awesome for mid/far shots, but not the greatest for close.

Note that Hound is somewhat blurry, yet my stucco wall looks nice and sharp. Go figure. The 'smudge' on his legs is the glare from the front of the glass case.

Question: did you strip this guy down to individual parts before base coating him? I ask because I am currently in the process of gutting one of these to do a SG repaint and he is a bugger to disassemble, lots of one way pins etc... Any hints or tips for deconstruction?

Hey there. Yes, I did disassemble him as much as possible. I never tried any pin-removals before. I popped off his arms & legs, took out screws, and masked the blue headlights and the windshield (as well as the tires). Mind you I couldn't get the blue grille/light assembly out, so I had to mask it off and cut off the excess with an X-Acto knife (AC Moore had a nice retractable push-button blade for $4.49).

In regards to tricks with this guy, basically just take your time. I did the entire base-coat with dry brush strokes to maximize coverage. I'm very satisfied with this: It may have taken more time, but the end justifies the means. So steady your hand and practice your dry-brush - this figure is a lot of fun to repaint. Though do be careful when spraying the rear quarter panels: You want to spray it upside-down so the wheel doesn't rub against the drying paint.

I think I've some wip pictures you could use for rerfence if you'd like. Thanks to everyone who looked, and many thanks to those that commented. As a beginner in this field I greatly appreciate any comments and critiques. Have a good one.
