Definitely have to check this show out! It really seems like Trigger is practically begging Hasbro to let them animate a new show. Honestly, that's a pretty genius and creative idea for references. Also, I find it interesting they chose Shattered Glass as a continuity to reference.

I'm super out of the loop about anime studios but I absolutely loved Darling in the Franxx - what happened here?

I ain't one to tell someone what to like and what not to like, but I will pass this friendly advice - Progressive kind of sucked, Alternative is great and feels much closer to the original. Progressive was kind of a slog with everyone acting really out of character whereas Alternative has much better art and seems a lot more fun. (Granted I haven't finished Alternative yet but my point stands.)

 

Just spotted this ~30 seconds into the opening credits:

A golden creation matrix design on the clasp of what looks like an empty phone case. In the show proper Akane Shinjo (the SG Optimus character) didn't have a case on her phone at all though, and the glass is all cracked... but she did throw it right at Anti (SG Rodimus)'s face at one point.

 

Do we know who the Arcadia quartet is, yet? Haven't done any digging as of yet.

 

Are they the "Dinobots"?

 

The 4 members of the Arcadia quartet colorschemes are all based on various Jetfires/Skyfires and they are all named after companies that produced Macross toys.

 

So.. G2, Animated, original, shadow skyfire?

Animated kinda stands out like a sore thumb since he's the only one who's not the G1 guy

after asking my more Macross-knowledgeable friend:

Imai-old model kit manufacturer
Takato- Takatoku Toys, responsible for the original Macross toys
Yamato - 1/60 die cast figure manufacturer
Imai- created the old molds for the destroid figures

 

I think Yamato, due to the grey and limited amounts of red, is actually based on Armada/Micron Legend Jetfire instead of the original.
