IRON MAN 3 Director Shane Black Is Working On A New Avengers Project

The British Avengers was a 60s spy show, similar to MAN FROM UNCLE and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. It had a 1998 film with Uma Thurman, Ralph Fiennes and Sean Connery.

"We’re setting it in Britain in the 60’s, and our approach is The Ipcress File meets Doctor Who. At this moment, it’s my favorite thing we’re working on."

Well, I can't trust Shane Black since IRON MAN 3, but I like the 60s setting.

Agreed. And since it's Shane Black, it'll inevitably be set in & around Christmas as per his trademark.

    Two things.

First thing. So what are they calling it? Call it avengers and people who never heard of the 60s show will say "that's not the avengers! Where's iron man?" Plus does marvel have the name rights to avengers for movies?

Second thing is will it have sean connery in a teddy bear suit like the last one?

You make Christmas kino sound like a bad thing.

    Though
his Predator movie is probably gonna suck based off the spoilers I heard.

still Shane Black has made more good than bad.

It's not. Just an old schtick when it comes to this guy. But don't get me wrong; I still give this a chance. He lost me a bit at Iron Man 3 due to how almost unbelievably bad it was, but got me back with The Nice Guys.

Yeah, I don't see the title working at the movies.

I'm excited, but not excited to see the confusion this will cause to the movie masses.

I think the fact there was already a British Avengers movie is the reason the Marvel movies are always called "Marvel's The Avengers". The actual titles always include "Marvel's" in a way the other Marvel movies don't, so I think people are still free to make a movie or tv series based on the original Avengers and call it plain "Avengers".

And if people aren't familiar with the original Avengers, this is their chance to get familiar. The British show predates the American comic, so it would be messed up if they had to rename, imo.

Is Captain Britain in it and maybe Psylocke?

    I liked Iron Man 3 :p

    edit:
ah, that show. Here it was called "With umbrella, charme and bowler hat". Well, it's the literal translation, if I wrote it in German, I could probably also write nonsense and it would make no difference :lol  In German it sounds nicer, as in German the title is an alliteration.

Yeah, this was the reason we got “Marvel’s The Avengers”, though now that Marvel’s Avengers are THE Avengers to pretty much everyone (compared to a time when the general audience had no idea who most of these characters were), I bet the British Avengers come up with a different title, or add a bunch of prefix and/or suffix words to differentiate from the super hero team.

The Nice Guys was awesome and hilarious.

People are gonna definitely keep making mistakes between these two properties.
