    Hey everyone.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned at all here on TFW2005, but today was the release day of the new SERENITY "Collector's Edition" 2-Disc set. The movie is the same, but there are loads more bonus features. Plus, they had the movie with an exclusive comic book at Best Buy today, packaged with the movie. I don't know if they'll only have the exclusives for sale today or what, but I had seen quite a few at the Best Buy I had gone to. Regardless, the comic book is a reprint of the first issue of the Serenity mini-series anyway :)

The movie however was definitely worth the price of admission !!!

What are the differences between this release and the first release? I love the movie and have the original release, but am on the fence about getting this version. Thanks for the help.

Already got the first release, still clinging to the (impossible) hope that they'll start up the series again or do another film.

Just picked up what I like to call "Joss Whedon's birthday present to me" today. Can't wait to watch it again, it's been awhile. The DTS track should be nice, and definitely looking forward to the new cast commentary.

    Here are a few reviews:

    http://dvd.ign.com/articles/812/812600p1.html

    http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=29908

Both mention differences from the first release.

I myself grabbed it first thing. Haven't watched this version yet, but I already loved the movie and was one of the few to see it in theater.

There was an interview with Joss Whedon recently (don't have a link or remember where, saw it on the SciFi/firefly forum) where he hinted that something could happen with Firefly if this DVD release sells well enough. The actors are still under contract option till September. Faint hope, but at least its a possiblility. So buy 2, give some to friends, etc. Show the execs that they can profit from future seasons of Firefly. Heck it worked for Family Guy and Futurama...

I bought it last night and we watched all the Extras. God if there has ever been a show that Fox screwed over it was this one (and Futurama).

I had heard that Sci-Fi Channel was going to put out a TV movie in the near future. I so hope this is true. Furefly/Serenity doesn't have to be in the theater to be good. Hell there were elements on the show that were better than the movie (thought he movie is awesome as hell too).

Is the Best Buy exclusive comic something new, or is it a reprint of the "Those Left Behind" mini-series from Dark Horse that serves as the prequel to the film?

Despite owning the first release, I'm really considering getting this special edition. I loves me some Firefly.

Already own it on DVD. Will only pay more money for a HD Blu-ray version.

A sad story for us my friend is that it will not be coming to Bluray any time soon, if ever. Universal, like Paramount will not support Bluray (another reason why I don't own Army of Darkness in HD).

Ahem, but I do have Serenity in 720P for other reasons (I love my PS3). I own both versions of the movie now and the series, so I don't feel in the least guilty about it.

I also own the original DVD release, but I'll buy a copy of this one for two reasons
    1) I love all the extra stuff on this one
    2) add my $20 to the put Firefly back on the air fund

Well, I have the HD-DVD version, and don't buy DVD's anymore, but I think I'll at least have to rent the extra features disc. And if it has a cast commentary, that might just be one worth watching/listening to.
