Sequel enhancements to Escalation

    ...that you'd like to see? Apart from the obvious ones of not being restricted to four set characters per map and more than 15 waves, I'd like:

    Custom characters: Why not bring your characters over from multiplayer, complete with abilities and weapons? Given the rules of Escalation obviously you'll start with a standard machine gun or whatever, but should you buy a weapon that you've upgraded to some fashion in multiplayer, then those upgrades will carry over to this mode. Also as alot of people here also enjoy TF customising on an aesthetic level, you'll have plenty of time to show off your designs and admire other peoples as you strut around between waves.

    Quick communications: You can already send messages to your team mates without a mic, but its VERY slow and clunky, so how about a few pre-set messages you can exchange mid wave to try and encourage team work? Just point your reticule at who you want to talk to, press select, and then you'll have a list of messages each alocated a button which you can press to communicate with then, such as:

    'Stick together'
    'Help me open this door/buy this weapon'
    'I need ammo'
    'I need healing'
    'I'm buying something for you'
    'Lets upgrade weapons'

    Basic stuff like that, which will pop up unobtrusively in the lower corner of their screen once you've sent it - it could really help with making teams more cohesive.

    We need something!! Foc escalation has been the biggest let down for me :(

    I just preferred Wfc escalation! more fun and less restrictive

    Yeah, Escalation is really weak in FOC. I barely get that Survival Feel that was in WFC and all the waves are basically the same.

    All I'd like to see is the return of being able to choose from any character in a faction, complete with their own abilities rather than the teamwork classes forced on us.

    I also liked the odd map taunts that wfc had. I think it was Zeta Prime for the decepticons, and Megatron for the autobots.

    What's the point of having notable characters and their voice actors voicing those characters taking part in missions if they aren't going to communicate?

    When Jazz is down or in trouble, why doesn't he say so. When Ratchet needs and escort to help him get to Energon, why doesn't he say so. When everyone needs to regroup for ammo beacon or just to figure out what to do next, why doesn't Optimus have all members form up?

    Escalation is fun for the fact that you get to play with friends and notable characters, but it is serious lacking. Making it more interactive with story and playability will make it much better. I would like to see a feature in which all players mark targets for an airstrike rather than having random areas of the stage being bombarded. Optimus marks targets in story, but no one marks targets in escalation:rolleyes: 

    I don't one person should mark targets in escalation as it is a team-based mode, all members should take part in marking targets.

    HMS also needs to have an in-game tutorial, explaining to people how TO USE these escalation characters. I'm getting tired of joining parties that have folks that don't use ammo beacon to help his/her teammates or a medic who doesn't heal! Support characters do so little to support their teammates (in matches I'm playing), everyone wants to be Rambo:/

    Does anyone like the shield ability? I don't particularly like it? Does anyone know how to use it effectively? Does it actually block all attacks?

    I would rather be forced to be 4 diffrent charectors then have the same non-teamwork charectors that WFC had.

    I like the defined roles in FoC but I would like if they added a character selection for each role. It doesn’t matter a ton to me but I know a lot of people like specific characters. I had a guy I was playing with the other night that whined for 5 minutes about having to be stuck with Starscream because he doesn’t like the character. If they had more than one choice for that specific role then there is less chance that there would be a problem.

    More interactivity with the levels would be cool. I think some of the DLC maps in WFC had something like the power getting shut off or had the raw energon pools that went up and down. If there were occasionally additional objectives besides “destroy all enemies” I think that would add a little variety to the game. Something like planting det-packs on a shield generator to disable the enemy’s defenses.

    I'd prefer if you were limited by ability and not character. They don't talk to each other so there is no real reason as to why they couldnt include every character.

    You should pick by Ability and then pick your robot. Say you pick Heal Beam, then you'd get a second menu where you choose from a selection of characters assigned to that ability. The characters that don't have an ability, just pick one. Zeta Prime could have the ammo beacon, give Magnus the Flak shield, etc.

    There really is no reason aside from laziness that all characters are not available. Unless they have a wealth of relevant dialogue in the files that wasnt coded properly and thus doesnt actually get used in the game, and I highly doubt that.

    FOCs Escalation is a complete pile of shit. From maps to abilities, it's just a sloooow drudging mess. To improve Escalations fun factor they need to go back to WFC's roots.

    Infinite waves: Why? Because kicking the shit outta 500 plus enemy combatants should put a smile on everyones face.

    A large and customizable cast: Why? We all have our favourite d00ds, but rather than changing appearance as the MP allows, change your ability loadouts. If people want to play as a team with 4 cloakers, so be it. No point in bitching that some people like to play a certain way if it's fun for them.

    Doubling up abilities: I hate the forced sprint, I would rather have it as an option. What I'm suggesting is bringing back the 2 abilities, but this time make it so you can arm yourself with 2 turrets, or two shields or two whatever.

    Unlimited reloads: Make it possible to carry a large inventory of ammo or grenades should the player so choose.

    Open maps: Every FOC map feels too enclosed. Broken Hope is easily the most enjoyable level as you can run around in the open or hold up in the rooms. Hell, it's a blast to bottleneck your enemy in the stairwell and knock the ever lovin piss out of them.

    Enemy Transformers: Something that stuck out as lame in FOC is the lack of enemy transformers. The only transformers are the jets. The game feels more Robotech and less Transformers because of this.

    Bring back the big sound: I couldn't help but notice FOCs X-18 barely makes any noise when fired. Just a small "pikka, pikka, pikka" effect rather than the X-12's "BOOM BOOM BOOM". This matters as it sets up great atmosphere when destroying enemies.

    Needs larger enemies in later waves: The tank was fun as hell to battle in WFC. He was a little on the dumb side though. It would have been great if he could slowly tear open the walls of whatever building the players were hiding in giving them less shelter as waves progress. (Think TF 86 movie Devastator)

    Vehicle abilities: I shouldn't need to explain this one. I mean WTF were they thinking.

    These are only a few things I'd like to see happen. IMO, it would make the game fun again and then some.

    Add me into the "fixed class but choose our character" category. I'd like to play as Optimus the Medic, or Soundwave the Gladiator (shield).

    I think the Flak Shield is easily the weakest of the four abilities. All enemy fire from the front is blocked while the shield is active, however you can only have the shield up for a limited time. In addition, your movement speed is slowed and you cannot return fire. This is the weak bit: enemy fire reduces the time you can have the shield active. The more fire you take, the faster you loose the shield.

    Actually the shield is VERY useful, what it does is make EVERY enemy fire at you while its active. That means if your on top of a ledge & your healer falls down into the swarm of guns below all you gotta do is use the shield & the enemies will completely ignore your medic getting to safety. It will save his bacon. :D

    Ow ok

    So basicly everyone will be forced to have to take one of the roles but wont be forced to be the same charector (and no doubles so no two healers)

    Yup. A lot like Dirge121 explained too. Pick your role then select your character to go with that role.
