    Hooray alliteration!

I'm sure this has been answered countless times, but what is with the buzzing sound SP's big ol' sword makes? (besides "it's cool") It doesn't appear to use any special energy like Optimus's (silent) weapons, and it's clearly not a chain-saw, so what is it?

    *alliteration :)

But yeah, my guess is this. At the very least, "audible sharpness". At the most, any fan-explanation pertaining to special energies.

Is that an official thing, like the cosmic rust?

If not, I guess 'audible sharpness' is as good an explanation as any.

Ah, I need to pay more attention to this control-click spell check feature.
    Kinda ironic, though...

probably just an exaggerated pitch of the blade as it encounters air while moving rapidly, due to the unique structure and shape it has.

Sounds like a damn lightsaber when he uses it to show off... I like it! Very much!

It is similar to a lightsaber, but different enough to be distinguished. I love the sound, though. More than the lightsaber sound.

Doesn't sound like the stock "audible sharpness" sound effect either. I think it's something with the structure, or as the above posters have said, the way it whooshes through the wind like any weapon you swing.

Maybe it uses vibrations like the weapons in Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I could go for a metal that vibrates at super high speeds to destabilize the molecules of whatever it hits and thus making it seem like the blade is super sharp because it cuts through things like a hot knife through butter. Or summat.
    *SCHWING!*
