I decided I wanted to do a repaint of the Leader class Sentinel Prime mold, So I did a few digipaints to see what I thought would be the best looking. I thought I would start out with some of the characters rumored to be the fire truck in DOTM. I was going to do one as Ultra Magnus one as Vector Prime and one as Alpha Trion. I started with Alpha Trion, and it seemed to fit the mold so perfectly that I never got to doing the other ideas. He has the big collar and cape, the shoulders have spikes in them, and the silver around his eyes matches very closely with the white around Alpha Trion's eyes. He even has a beard and mustache.
I wanted him to be pretty easily recognizable, so I wanted to keep his facial features and his colors close to his G1 look. So I used some Lego pieces to modify his forehead crest, and gave him as much of his trademark mustache and beard as I could, while still letting his head turn. (Actually I trimmed the head so it can turn farther than the original.)
For his colors, they tended to vary a lot from episode to episode, but I always remembered him as being a faded red and a really desaturated indigo blue, rather than the maroon and purple he is often depicted as. So I went with the original red plastic and a light indigo blue. To make him a little more movie style I went real heavy over all his robot parts with a silver dry brush to try and make him look very worn. I didn't do a wash because I wanted to try and keep him clean and a little cartoony.
For his truck mode since he is such a shell former I could do pretty much anything I wanted, but I found a picture of a real Rosenbaur Panther that was white and purple, so I mimicked that paint job in red and blue.
Overall I am really pleased now with how this turned out. I think it looks really good and I believe the mold suits Alpha Trion. Though I would be interested to know if he is as recognizable as I think he is. anyway this was fun.

I think you did and awesome job on this. IMO the drybrushing just gives him an old banged up ancient autobot. looks like hes been drifting through space for MEGACYCLES

    keep it up!!!!

I always thought the designers were trying to make alpha Trion and bay changed the name. That was who I thought it was when we saw early pics of the mold before there was name confirmation

Thanks for the comments guys. I appreciate it.
Tekkaman Blade, yeah, I do think there is too many similarities between Sentinel's design and Alpha Trion's to be just coincidence.
As a number of you have said there is too much dry brushing, but that was intentional, like 'purple-bot' said, I wanted him to feel really worn and used. He is supposed to be billions of years old in some versions, so I wanted him to look worn. It also helps break up the solid colors to help him look more movie style, while letting me keep the simpler color layout of the cartoon.
Honestly this turned out well enough, that I am considering buying the voyager version, and painting him with solid colors, with no dry brushing, and putting him in my classics collection.
If I can find some good bits to work from, I am also thinking about making a quill,a book, and a gold key for him, and since his hand is poseable he should be able to hold them.

this mold is PERFECT for Alpha Trion, i think the drybrushing is a little much for me personally but a great job on the paint work non the less

edit:didn't see you had commented back about the drybrushing AND didn't mean too beat a dead horse....
