A "well-intentioned extremist" would have been redeemed at the end, seen the error of his ways.

SP was not and did not.

I have to say villain. He was ready to kill every Autobot in his way at Nest. He was shooting at Bee trying to kill him. In fact, I am sure he would of killed every autobot right then and there if he could, minus Optimus. Justifying the killing of any Autobots or enslaving humans isn't exactly a heroic thing.

Also Lester, your sig makes me kinda sad. Kinda like a Toy Story 3 sad.

anders and binladen ( taliban etc ) are different, thats real world, ofcourse they are not heros.
But transformers is just a fantasy, here i am on the side of the decepticons. ofcourse in realworld i would be totally against it.

I more considered Sentinel as Hero as he wanted to save cybertron. sure he wanted to enslave humans, but we enslave animals too.

    1. He disobeyed the Primes No.1 rule that the Fallen Disobeyed

    2. He Committed Friendly fire against his own kind

    3. he destroyed 1/3's of his own planet...

    4. he put innocent people in danger.......

...Well I'll let you guys figure this out but in the Military I'm pretty sure this guy would be either shot or thrown in jail for the rest of his natural life.

To borrow Harvey Dent's quote from the Dark Knight: "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Sentinel Prime had Cybertron's best interests in mind when making his decision. This iteration of Sentinel reminded me very much of Magneto. He wanted he and his kind to survive, even if it came at the expense of lesser beings.

    He's a Well-Intentioned Extremist [a truly well-intentioned one this time around], he's somewhere in-betweens Anti-Hero and Anti-Villain, because he just can't freaking decide if he's a bad guy or a good guy.

Just take a look at his ways after he betrayals everyone:

    - He kills Ironhide.
    Act: Villanous.

    - Optimus arrives in Washington, Sentinel says: "Forgive me" in a genuinely heartfelt tone.
    Act: Heroic.

    - Sentinel lectures Optimus on them being gods.
    Act: Villanous.

    - Sentinel attacks Chicago.
    Act: Villanous.

    - Sentinel kicks the living crap out of Megatron because he won't accept a dictator on Cybertron.
    Act: Heroic.

    - Sentinel Fights Optimus? Villanous.

Sentinel begs for his life genuinely heartfelt? Heroic.

    DECIDE ALREADY, DAMN'IT!

He's a hero.....He saved a Kitty Cat from a burning Building and we then ate pudding.

But in all seriousness He's the well intentioned extremist, he cared about saving the race something Optimus clearly didn't give a shit about. Yeah Sentinel caused genocide and betrayed his old ideals......Optimus Prime is as big of a hypocrite.

I like to think of Sentinel being more akin to Kang the Conqueror from the Marvel comics. He's trying to save his world even if it means conquering us in our time.

I'm probably the only person who actually respects this guy even though i was a big Ironhide fan.

I liked him! Well, I don't know if what I do is more "liking" or "respecting" his character, but I thought he was awesome. Awesome design, awesome voice casting, and an awesome (attempted) level of depth that we hadn't seen in the movies previous. A really complex character. I loved Ironhide, but I wasn't one of those "OH NOES! HE KILLED IRONHIDE! WHAT A JERK! HE SHOULD DIE! HE'S PURE UNADULTERATED EVIL!"-commenters. ;)  That act alone (in the context of the situation) was enough to make his character and personality shine. His goals were well-intentioned, even if they took a rough road to get there. But I wouldn't call him an out-and-out villain. Well-intentioned extremist as some people have so accurately stated? Yes. "Bad guy"? Not so much. As Leonard Nimoy stated in an interview: "Sentinel Prime...is a complicated character."

He was a self deluted and misguided wanna-be villain with intentions that were good for some but bad for most.

He did it for the sake of his race from getting extinction and to restore Cybertron. If the last pillar was successful and Cybertron does get its glory, years from now, all Cybetronians would hail SP as their savor.

His intention is good, but since I'm a human and bias as well, I say his execution was villainous because both earth and human have to be sacrificed/ destroyed. Of course, if I was Cybertronian, I say screw the human and hail SP, muhahhaha.

All Sentinel wanted was the survival of his race. He made a deal with Megatron so their race would not become extinct because of war. Yes, he betrayed his own principles and the ways of the primes, but he did it for the greater good of his own kind. Even though he was willing to enslave our race I don't consider him a villain but I also don't consider him a hero. Optimus shouldn't be considered a hypocrite or villain either. Optimus didn't join Sentinel because he didn't want the humans to be forced to rebuild THEIR planet because THEY distoryed it.

Bullcrap. Optimus Prime is as bad as Sentinel then.

He doesn't give a damn about his race and just slaughters and slaughters his own kind.

Even with Killing Megatron and Sentinel. Their race is screwed and their home world is gone. Prime never bothered to care about saving their race, if anything he's the biggest traitor ever.

    Anyways Reboot please.
