I took a break from modding my backlog of customs and decided to fix Sentinel Prime, since he just CAN'T stand up. Embedded a couple huge heels on ball joints into the back of his calves. Could've made them smaller, could've made them store better in vehicle mode, but this mod only took me 20 minutes. Now he can lean back on one foot without crumbling into a fail pile. Oh, and I'm open to suggestions if anyone knows any good ways to simplify his ridiculous transformation.
well you could leave the eye leds intact, but I don't know the figure if it has light pipings through the neck your screwed, but if there are electric wire I kinda know a very simple and effective way PM if help is needed!! LOOKS GOOD!
Doll armature ball joints, the kind I use have holes in the middle; convenient for running LED's and other wiring through. The problem is, like all Transformers, his LED only flashes instead of staying on and his eyes are black when not lit up. I painted it with Tamiya Clear Orange and his eyes still looked black, so I said screw it and just painted them solid orange. Looks more lively that way, screw light up eyes (though rewiring the switch to an on/off switch and bypassing the blinking chip probably isn't that hard).
hasbro crapped on the light piping for this guy. Even with the LED active, you can hardly see the light. Take it apart, and remove the factory app paint, and they will light up a lot nicer.
yeah i agree how frustrated with him not able stand up. so i won his ladder as his stand. or i could do a mod similar to u. and the red led scares me. LOL
Huh, that's weird, mine never had any factory paint on the eyes. The LED definitely looked good... when it was on. I was content to use the water cannon as a stand for about ten minutes. It just feels so much better when he has a stable footprint. I'm pretty pleased with the head, I'll probably just rework the mouth plate a little. He barely BARELY fits in vehicle mode with his longer neck and now he has to stare out the windshield. Oh well. I'm gonna do some ruler shopping and make him a dragon slayer sword since he has a cool templar feel to him.
Yeah at first I was having trouble keeping mine standing up too. But after a while I found some things that helped keep him stable. There are a lot of joints in his foot and ankle, and I think the way they have it in the box is not quite right, though it looks OK. So that causes some confusion. There are two joints in the ankle, one that moves the foot side to side, and the other moves the foot up and down. If you push the "up and down" joint all the way so the heel is up against the calf, and turn the toe part so the front and back of the toe are resting on the ground, he will fall over. Try this instead. The "side to side" joint should be as far toward the center as possible. then push the heel down one "click" of the ankle joint, so it does not touch the back of the leg. Then point the toe section down until only the front of the toe touches the ground. There is a point on the back of the toe I make it point to the bottom of the rectangular peg on the heel like in the picture. Like that the foot will keep him quite stable. Keep the ankle one click foreward and the middle of the foot off the ground.
Good posting, JT. That's how I've got mine now. The toes seem to be pretty much just for looks and shouldn't be relied upon for balancing...
Made a proto sword. Had a lot of colors to choose from, but I want a Moonlight Sword. Screwed up on the glue consistency so it's pretty blotchy inside, I'll have to make another one.
I made it out of rulers and a missile. You might like the Chainsawd here, too. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/559282-minsoks-armory.html
