When Sentinel said "A deal had to be made with Megatron" then BOOM he kills Ironhide, why was Ironhide his target? I mean he could of shot Bumble Bee, Sideswipe, Ratchet instead. Is it because he was second in command to Optimus?

 

Perhaps he envisioned Ironhide as the most dangerous and felt he needed to be removed quickly. I imagine Ironhide just has that kind of reputation.

 

Probably...also because he was standing right in front of him, facing away from sentinel - easiest to take out and one of the most dangerous. Still sucks that he had to die :[

I guess case of take out the strongest/biggest threat first to get them out of the way and make an example of them. It seemed to throw the others pretty badly and made them pull back instead of trying to effectively hit back.

 

Yeah that's what I don't understand is why didn't the Autobots tried to fight back but instead they retreated like cowards

 

Um, did you miss the part where Sentinel was shooting at them? They had just lost one of their own and they were under fire, so they made a tactical withdrawl.

 

It's called shock. The psychological impact of being backstabbed by one of their most eminent leaders might have demoralized them beyond fighting back.

 

I think it was mainly because of proximity; Ironhide was right beside him. However, he did try to take out Bumble Bee as well, but Bumble Bee managed to evade his attacks.

All of the above - yes. However, I think they wanted to kill an Autobot with alot of impact like in TF1, like they did with Jazz. They knew it would upset ppl but as much as if Bee or Optimus were to be killed off (and by Optimus I mean killed off for good, ROTF dont count).

 

Also Optimus wasnt even there and Ironhide, the second in command, had just died...what else were they supposed to do? they barely had any idea what was going on.

 

Yeah and when Optimus came into NEST he was shocked and speechless, did you see when he transformed and looked around? poor Optimus.

 

He never liked the sub-species (if you can call it that) that Ironhide came from. Its explained more in the comics. He even says something along those line of 'I never liked your kind' when he pulls the trigger.

Also, fighting a guy with a gun that dissolves you is not a very good idea. Tactical retreat ends in less death.

Ironhide was part of the Thetacons, a tribe on Cybertron that opposed Sentinel's views that the Allspark needed a sun to work, when they found out Sentinel was right they laid down their arms and built a temple for the allspark to show their gratitude.

I think Sentinel struck Ironhide because (A) he posed the greatest threat to Sentinel present at the time and (B) he would have the most impact..killing Ratchet wouldn't really have that much of an impact and killing Bumblebee is downright insane considering how much everyone loves him (plus killing BB means Hasbro can't release more and more repaints of him!)
