I just wanted to hear some opinions from you guys on this. I have a bunch of alternators, maybe a few G1s, and some other random stuff that I thought about selling off so that I can start building my own R2-D2. I've been wanting to a build an R2-D2 for a while, but I'm afraid I will hate myself after selling off my TF. I won't sell off the majority of my G1 stuff because I KNOW I'll hate myself then. The other reason is that they just sit there, I'm not going to customize them and I no longer transform or play with them.
Be careful of what you sell. I sold off my Alt collection some time ago. Do I regret selling them?....No. But I missed seeing them in my collection. I just recently repopulated the Alt collection with one of each that was released....It just boils down to that I ended up missing them....even though they just "sat there" and were not played with. If you do sell them, just be sure of what you are doing....if you give out deals, make sure that you can get that deal in return should you need it....because you may have a hard time getting back what you parted with should you want them again.
Good points. I do get a lot of "oh those are cool" comments from my friends that know nothing of tranfsformers and it makes my hobby seem little less dorky. (However after making that statement I realized I would be selling them to build a R2-D2, and you can't get much more dorky than that) I haven't made up my mind yet, just thinking out loud.
Building the R2-D2 sounds cool by all means. I'd love to see it done. Its just that will you miss the Alts (if you part with them) when its all said and done?
If the price was right, I probably would. My collection is not complete, but it does include Swerve (which I may keep just because I like saying that I own one) I need to formulate a better plan as to how much its going to cost me compared to what I would have to sell.
This. If it were me, I'd look at other ways of getting the loot together. Selling off my collection would be the last resort.
Right on. Although, I'm glad PK sold off some of his stuff... about a third of my collection used to be his. ;-) R2-D2 Builders Club goes to Dragon*Con every year, and there's one in particular that's ridiculous. Actually BETTER than the screen-used version, because it's all-terrain and has the sounds built in, cueable from the controller.
A good chunk of my custom Alts used to be his. I have to say that they are some of the highlights of my customs collection. I'm very honored to be able to showcase them in my collection.
