What do you do when someone is selling open box/used items for more than you can readily get them new for? Would it be impolite to drop them a PM and say, psst, hey, your price might be a bit out of line.

Just curious as to your take.

Talk with your wallet. If you can find it cheaper go elsewhere.

If not just leave the dude alone, as much as it sucks, people can charge anything they want for anything they want to sell..

You'd be surprised how many people are willing to negotiate. Send them an offer, the seller might just say yes!

Warning- SOME PEOPLE WON'T ANSWER OFFERS, ESPECIALLY IF THE OFFER IS SO LOW AS TO BE INSULTING.

Make a decent offer, and wait for a reply is about all you can do...

You should do one of two things. If the seller says they will negotiate, do so via pm. If they dont specify that they'll negotiate, just move along till you find what you want at the price you want. It's not worth it to get into an argument with the seller.

Are you letting them know because you want to buy or just to let them know that their price is high? If you're not going to buy it then don't worry about it. He'll figure it out on his own.

QFT!!! He will definitely find out on his own when he gets tired of bumping, and bumping, and bumping, till he figures out "Hey, why isn't my stuff selling".

All things considered equal, some people know when they are deliberately overpricing something. It's never rude to offer a realistic price. "Low" balling, is when the price is generally around the accepted market price, and the offer is extremely low. If your offer is around general market price, and their asking price is super high, then it's a reasonable offer.
