I've been tempted to play some JGR. I've gotten as close to having JSRF in my 360 only to fail at playing since I was using a memory card instead of the hard drive. I got the JGR Music Sampler off of ebay for $1 a few weeks back. To bad its all the stuff they added to the US/Eu versions.

I wonder if all the porn pics I downloaded are still on a vmu some where. Covering Tokyo-to in pornography was awsome.

I still play my Launch Day DC, its never gonna die it seems. Spent so many hours on PSO. I am told I spend to much time on WoW for the last few years, PSO was abotu 4 times worse. I even used to type on PSO with my feet in combat.

i'm convinced that if the dreamcast was left alone it would probably be still around today but on it's way out and the next sega console either already out or on it's way in

Wow, Dreamcast. This was a great system way ahead of it's time. I loved playing the DC, for instance, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Sega Marine Fishing, Unreal Tournament, Quake III, Smash Pack, RE: Code Veronica, Soul Calibur and the list goes on......

Strange this thread pops up, I just hooked up my old DC in my kids room just this past weekend, they are loving too! Mortal Kombat Gold is the game of choice at the moment.

I remember buying it at retail, only to see it drop down 50 bucks, then $100, then it was gone. I was pissed at the time, losing out on money that I would have saved if I had waited just a week, but after playing this great system, I quickly got over it. It's the only system that I have the most titles for. Spiderman, Marvel vs. Capcom2, Sonic, probably the best titles I have.

I had some great times with Soul Caliber, Grandia 2, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, and RE: Code Veronica. I just wasn't crazy about the controller/VMU combo. Eventually the large, screenless VMU came out, so that was an improvment, but it didn't help the controller itself.

Did anyone actually have Seganet as thier ISP? I switched over from Concentric (or something like that) that I signed up for with my Saturn NetLink. They never billed me after the first free month and I had it for free for three months when they finally cancelled my account. I signed up again using the same account information and had a free acount, sans email, until it shut down.

Online play was really good with SegaNet, once it shut down I switched over to whom ever they suggested. I was never able to get a good enough connection except for the 2k Sports games and Speed Devils Online to play after that.

I spent so much time on the Dreamcast IRC chat at sega.com as well. I was so excited about the Zip Drive that I bought a zip disk holder. I also couldn't wait for the DC MP3 player, even though the system took forever to download and play a single mp3.

Oh man, I have extremely fond memories of sitting up all night unlocking everything on Soul Calibur. And of beating Shenmue. Fuck, I loved that game.
I really liked the VMUs personally; I used to love playing with my Chao on it. So much better than a Tamagotchi.

Oh Dreamcast, how I miss you so, It was the only console I ever got on launch date. Controller ports shorted out years later and caused me great sadness.

I do miss my Dreamcast sometimes.

Got the Gamecube ports of some games, like Crazy Taxi & Skies of Arcadia so I can still enjoy them but still... its not quite the same.

Someone had too. The Dreamcast was a crappy system, it deseved every bad thing that happened to it. It had no good games that weren't just ports from another platform. And before anyone says Shemmue, I fucking hate that series. And it had a horrid controller. The only thing that I could possibly consider a good thing about the Dreamcrap was that it showed Microsoft what not to do whem competing against Playstation.

Ah Dreamcast. I can still remember the day when my step-brother moved in with his back in 2000 and I booted up Sonic Adventure, oh those were the days.

I bought my own that same year and have kept it in good condition. Gotta love it.

    Long live PSO!

Man, I put so many hours into that game. So many memories. Easily my all time favorite DC game. Skies of Arcadia is still one of the best RPGs ever. Anyone else play Alien Front Online? That was probably the first console game to feature voice chat with that big yellow ball mic you attached to your controller. Crappy game, but still fun.

Sadly my Dreamcast passed away last year in the middle of playing Grandia II. Powered it off to eat supper and when I went to fire Grandia up again...kaput :(

    Wow.

    Grandia II
    Shenmue (congratulations, you hate quality)
    Phantasy Star Online
    Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2
    Seaman
    Skies of Arcadia
    Sega GT
    Virtual On: Oratoria Tangram
    Crazy Taxi
    Sonic Adventure
    Sonic Adventure 2
    Jet Grind Radio
Mobile Suit Gundam: Rise from the ashes
    Resident Evil Code: Veronica
    Soul Calibur
    Marvel vs. Capcom
    Marvel vs. Capcom 2
    Power Stone

I can keep going, but I've posted enough to make my point. these were all Dreamcast exclusives, and all hailed as amazing games. Some are arcade ports, but you know what? They're all superior to the original arcade versions.

it also had nice, enhanced ports of Resident Evil 2 and 3.

some of these games were LATER ported to other systems (grandia II was pretty much destroyed in the move to PS2), but they were exclusives while the system was alive. oh, and they gave steve a stupid haircut in the PS2 version of code: veronica.

I gotta say, a lot of money doesn't make a good game. I know it cost Sega a ton to make, but Shenmue provided no fun for me. Controls were stiff, story was standard stuff, and the tasks were mundane. The Dreamcast had plenty of great exclusives during its short life, but Shenmue wasn't one of them to me.

You had to use the web browser. Just save images to a VMU and you can then use them as custom tags in JGR.

    I shall feed the troll.

DC didn't have that many ports from other consoles. Third Party games were hit and miss, just like every other console. Sega was really in thier stride with the games they were prducing during the DC era. We got many great original and risky titles, many of which are still inovative to this day. They produced the best sports games available. So many great arcade conversions, often going above and beyond typical arcade ports. Capcom bled DC blood, thier support and games for the system were some of the best games made during that generation.

Shenmue as a game is pretty average. Shenmue as a production and the evolution of design is a masterpiece. No other game has attempted to do what it had done at the time. It took the cinematic and story telling approach to new heights.

DC controller was pretty shit, you got that right.

The Xbox has so many things in common with the Dreamcast your final statement is just fucking r-word.org.
