wtf? Is it not possible to get a real sonic game that isn't on a portable system anymore?

Supposedly the game's supposed to use some classic Sonic areas as well, which is my big complaint about Sonic Team, no use of history. There's a new character, Shade, who's a lot darker looking than most Sonic mascots, and only 7 of the announced 11 playables are announced.

Darker tone, new developer, Rouge is in it. I'm happy so far.

Between Sonic Advance 1-3, Sonic Battle, and Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure, all the best Sonic games have been on portables. I'd call them real games before ever calling that miserable new console version a real game. Besides, for a new genre for Sonic, this is less risky, typical move for franchises. I can only hope Sonic gets a decent console game sometime soon, maybe with Nintendo and Bioware doing so good with the franchise they'd figure something out.

Well, Sonic is going to be in Smash Brothers, but I know exactly what you mean.

If Sega farmed this out to Bioware (brilliant move) then maybe they'll hand off then next console Sonic to a capable outside team as well.

But who would be a good choice?

Nintendo. They've already made a character model that looks better than the ones in recent games, they've got the console with the biggest market share, and when have they ever gotten a platform game wrong? As it is Sega's practically a 2nd party developer, they almost were officially for a while.

Yeah, I actually think they could just throw Sonic into the Mario Galaxy engine with great success.
It would sure as hell be better than that crap Sega tried to pass off on us in 2006.

Totally missed my point. There hasn't been a decent non-portable sonic game since sonic and knuckles. I want sonic on the tv in my living room doing something that doesn't involve mario olympics, walking around a town, racing gokarts, or something equally as random.

It's the same issue I have with the mario, metroid and castlevania series. All I want is badass awesome graphics and sound, and some classic 2d perspective style FAST paced platforming, on my TV.

    You and me both.

However, Sega thinks we are wrong and we really want a sequel to Sonic Riders.
Because we all know how good the first Sonic Riders was.

They showed enough smarts to have Bioware devolop the Sonic RPG.
Maybe this is a sign they are returning to a focus on quality.

While I'll agree with Sonic and Castlevania, I will fight to the death if someone would try and take 3D away from Mario and Metroid. The Prime series was awesome, and Mario Galaxy is as good as SMB3.

The best parts of Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 demonstrated that 3-D sonic can be done exceptionally well. If you could take the good parts of those two and put them together, you'd have an incredible game. The problem is that Sonic Team does not get the time, budget, or staff to do it right all the way through. Every major Sonic game except Sonic 3 & Knuckles has been unfinished to some degree, but in a 3D game it shows a lot worse.
