A little late to the game in regards to Alternators but was thinking of getting a couple to see if I like them. I have a little of everything in my collection so my question is, what are a few good "firsts" for alternators? I want some that are more readily available so I don't break the bank if I don't like them. Looking for G1 homages maybe. I like tracks, and prime, but what are some other good ones. I also really like the look of the jaguar that actually turns into ravage but I think that one might be a little pricey.

    *Update*
figured I'd test the water and throw out a trade thread with a MISB RTS windcharger for an alternator and had a bunch of offers. Which one should I go for as my first?

    -Grimlock
    -Hot Rod
    -Tracks
    -Jazz (with reprolabels)
    -silverstreak
    -Smokescreen
    -Hound

Don't let Prime be your first figure from the line, he's easily the worst. He was my first Alt and almost put me off on the line but my wife got me one (Ricochet) as a surprise and it totally changed my opinion about them. I've since completes the Alt/BT line and its one of the centers of my display.

Smokescreen, Jazz, Tracks, and Hound and all repaints are great figures. Tracks is my favorite.

How has no one mentioned Mirage? He is easily the best Alt, hands down. Great posability, very little kibble and he turns into a freaking GT40

Anything that uses the wrx mold is awesome (silverstreak, smokescreen, ricochet). I'd probably put the ford gt mold right behind that one (mirage/rodimus), and the rx-8 mold (jazz/shockwave) a very close third.

All are very good, some just a bit more clunky then others (prime). I'd say the wrx molds are still probably a very affordable entry to the line.

    Tracks

Grimlock and Wheeljack share the same mold and have nice bot modes, but are a bitch to transform (they weren't fun for me) and aren't strict G1 homages.

Ravage (the original mold, not the Tracks redeco/remold) is awesome but expensive...perhaps something to look for later if you really like the line and take a shine to the look of Ravage.

I like the RX-8, WRX, Ford GT, and even the Mustangs. The only weak part about the Mustangs is that big ass plate on the bottom that just hangs off the back of the figure in bot mode :\

Meister- the RX8 is very good.
    Smokescreen is also quite nice.

I'm thinning my collection and have some Alts. if you want to buy them (like Meister).

Let me know and we'll talk.

    Mirage
Prime- but it has to be One of Takaras painted versions. Hasbro's does leave a lot to be desired.
    Jazz
    Ravage (jaguar versions)

Ram mold is the weakest by a long stretch. The Civic mold is missing something...the rest are all at least decent.

I dig the Tracks and Shockwave molds, and any repaints/retools. The Sideswipe and Sunstreaker molds are fun as well and a nice homage to the twins.

Get the subaru molds, Jazz and the BT arming kit. Make the arming kit a priority.

Makes any figure (mentioned above) go from sweet looking to dead fucking sexy.

Darkov actually casts them. That way you can have them to match any and all alt's that should have them.

    Your welcome. :D

My first was Hound, found him on clearance in the "aisle of misfit toys" at walmart and he's been a favorite since.

as i said in another thread, i got Wheeljack and got cold feet and backed away from the line.

but in all honesty, the aesthetic of the Alt/BT line is what i thought a modern G1 themed line should be.
Classics is great and all, but just look at the detail of both modes, but look at how impressive (read: intimidating) the bot modes are. Modern, but nothing like Bayverse weird.

so aside from the Wheeljack and Prime molds, get all of them you can.
