So I've seen many pictures showing the Decepticon symbols on any of the seeker's wings both right side up and upside down. Is there a reason sometimes they are upside down? I always figured that them being right side up was more correct.

If they were real jets, the logos would be upside down when they transform. On Masterpiece figures, for instance, the logos are unapplied so you can put them whichever way you prefer.

It's basically just become a matter of preference. I can understand why they'd be upside down (as explained by simplygriff) but I think they look idiotic upside down in robot mode. So MY personal preference is rightside up. Just depends on what you think looks best :)

Well, The cartoon had backwards logos so that is probably why. I actually prefer the logos like this!

I prefer the logos right-side up in robot mode. In jet mode this has the benefit of the wing symbols facing the direction of flight, and the same direction as the nosecone symbol.

Also, the instruction sheets and the toy packaging show the symbols should go right-side up.

The Encores (except Sunstorm) actually have them painted on "right side up", which is the way I prefer them so it kinda worked out :D

And besides, simplygriff's reason is wrong because of the direction the symbols were drawn on the wings in jet mode most of the time.

The whoel idea of being upside down is that in vehicle mode they look like real plane decals.

Of course when the wings flip over for robot mode they end up upside down.

Animated Starscream doesn't have this problem.

    I prefer them "upside-down."

Real jets have their markings directed to be read from facing the same way the jet would be facing if it were going forward.

You can't read markings on a jet if you were trying to read it as it was flying towards you. The jet is flying. It'll pass by you in seconds.

I prefer them upside-down as well...it annoys me that Hasbro's MP Skywarp has them right-side up, especially since Starscream's were "the right way," the way I prefer them. But, to be fair, it was inconsistent in the toon. Sometimes they drew them right-side up, but most of the time they were upside-down...

How about replacing the symbols with tied-up AKOM animators?
