Not sure what I'm allowed to say, but when asked about an MP Rodimus, the MP designer, Kobayashi, said "Rodimus Convoy" and nodded his head.

This is still confusing, now that there is some credible source I guess its leaning towards Rodimus Prime.

 

Excellent news, indeed. I hope they continue a movie theme shortly after with Galvatron and Cyclonus; here's hoping.

 

Bought, I'm sick and tired of the repaints so this is fucking awesome.

 

Grimlock is clearly based on the cartoon too. Compare the look of the dinosaur head on the Masterpiece figure to the cartoon and the toy, it matches the cartoon. He just has added detail to the Masterpiece. Though Grimlock didn't stray too much from the toy with the cartoon.

Plus he lacks his rocket launcher like the toy had.

Actually I hope Rodimus is in scale with the MP Seekers and Grimlock.

 

It might come with a fishing rod.  

 

Fingers crossed he comes with a Rodimus Prime conversion kit of some sort (trailer/armour) - otherwise he's going to be one big Hot Rod, probably too big to sit in scale with the BT/MP leaders and definitely too big for the smaller MPs/Alternitys.

So, basically I want him close to 1/24 or 1/32 otherwise, regardless of how good the mould is, I probably won't bite.

Having said all that, this is the first piece of exciting news to come out in about, oh, a year that didn't come from iGear!

 

I hope he's in scale with Prime.  

 

Im not a big Hot Rod fan, but i will be picking this figure up. Hope they make an MP Galvatron soon afterwards.

 

Well he would be in scale with my iGear Prime if he is in scale with the MP Seekers and Grimlock... haha

 

As much as i'm a Hot Rod fan, i'd rather see some other bots get the MP treatment. Ironhide, Soundwave (with Buzzsaw) to name a few.

I said it can go both ways since Hot Rod's Japanese name is "Hot Rodimus" 「ホットロディマス」. Either way, whichever version of the character it is, its still the same character and I'm sure most MP fans will like it. Hmm, since the Masterpiece after that will most likely be a Decepticon, I wonder if it will be Soundwave, due to popularity, or Galatron to compliment Roddy.

I don't know about Soundwave and I definately not think Galvatron will make it to MP.
With the recent activities of TakaraTomy pushing their own lineup (excluding overseas market) I think Star Saber might be the next candidate. In Japan it has more support then Soundwave and any other characters due to its unique character and looks. I remember some designer said they want to redo the Star Saber toy a while ago.

 

Rodimus? Now this I gotta see. If he's good enough, I might not wait for the US release. I mean, he'll have to completely wow me, but it's possible.
