I think what will probably clear it up for good is when we find out who "Crankstart" is.(SP's nemesis stated in his bio. a very NEST line characteristic) If his design ends up looking like something from the movie line, then that means Sea Spray is ment to be part of the movie line.

That is unless Crankstart's design ends up being ambiguously line based like SP...Then we're screwed...

It was stated here That "Revenge of the Fallen" name will be dropped from packaging, the line will be re-branded just as "Transformers." So it will be a continuation of ROTF but blending more of the classics style in. The recently revealed Payload and Cyber Ops Bumblebee will also be in this continuation.

Going forward, there will be no classics or movie lines. It will just be one unified Transformers line.

They are probably re-branding the line to avoid paying Bay his (not inconsiderable) royalties for all RotF figures.

Seaspray looks like a bizarre mix of Cybertron, Movie, and Classics aesthetics. If I didn't know what he was, I'd put him in the Cybertron line.

I personally think that it's going to be a catchall line that will include all sorts of things including movie-ish designs. That way, there are only two sets of TFs on shelves at one time: these and whatever the new series is.

Maybe this is the "Generations" line but the word isn't being used on the packaging.

I'm displaying him with my Classics/Universe figures, but I think he could fit in either line pretty well.

A post I just made in another thread

if it's a "catch all" line like Universe, that's fine, I just wish the packaging had designations for where the individual toys are being "caught into" (like Universe did)

^ Or you could just tell your OCD "no!", and pick where you want to put it yourself.

I think I agree that they are doing a "fewer lines means we don't have to ask stores for more slots" thing. I mean, now that we are in the mid-movies, no show slump, Walmart's going to be wanting some of that space back. So if they can put all the toys out, but in fewer slots, whatever. Like stated before, I do wish they'd give us the "g1 series" or whatever so we know what their intentions are for these guys.

Whatever it is, I'm not a fan if every other toy is looking the way this is and becoming some weird non-movie movie hybrid style.

    Works for me.

Looking at what we currently know about this year's figures, I have a bad feeling that it's going to be Autobot heavy.

It seem all the toys we've seen with this packaging: Payload, black Ratcher, Cyber Bumblebee (and leader Starscream's packaging looks like its from this line too)--are all movie style toys. Even the Power-core combiners seem movie-esque. So I am assuming so is Seaspray.
