Soundwave is still undefeated. They totally did him right in this series.
This. Fear the faceless reaper!
My own personal review/recap.
Last time on Transformers Prime:
Unicron threatened planet Earth and Optimus Prime fought
alongside Megatron to put an end to his terror, but
the final solution (The Matrix of Leadership) cost
Optimus all of his memories, from the moment he became a Prime.
Thinking he is still Orion Pax, Megatron convinces him that
he is a Decepticon.
...or something similar. There is a lot to recap quickly.
Makes it difficult to get only the important things.
So Orion Pax: Part 1 opens up pretty much where One Shall Rise:
Part 3 leaves off. Ratchet explains that with the power of
the Matrix no longer within Optimus Prime it would stand
to reason that he has reverted to his pre-Prime state, believing
that he is his still the archivist known as Orion Pax. Megatron
has isolated Orion Pax from the other Decepticons "to ease his
transition" and commanded that no one refer to him as Optimus
To be honest I can't imagine that someone calling him a Prime would
magically bring back all the wisdom of the Primes, but whatever.
Ratchet also calls being a Decepticon a choice. I don't know how
well this sets within the aligned continuity, but, again, whatever.
With Optimus Prime no longer with the Autobots Ratchet plans to find
him and restore his memory with the key to Vector Sigma. Essentially
his memories can be download back into his mind... somehow (Yeah,
another "whatever" moment for me). Unfortunately for Jack he is the
only one who can access Vector Sigma since only a Prime, or one chosen
by a Prime, can access it. Optimus gave him the key and it is now imprinted
with his "unique bio-signiture." There is also the unfortunate problem
of gaining access to Cybertron, since the ground bridge simply is not
capable of such a task. Interestingly enough Miko actually gives
Ratchet the idea of "turbo charging" it.
Meanwhile, on the Nemesis, Orion Pax buys Megatron's lies and vows to
put an end to Ratchet's evil-doing. I'm not sure why Megatron chose
to put all the evil-doing of the Autobots upon Ratchet, but um...
I guess it'll do.
And! There is a neat scene where Jack and Sierra have cool connection
for a moment. I really enjoyed this. We got to see how she actually
feels about him. I won't spoil the moment for everyone, but it was a
very nice touch. We also get to see Ratchet begin to "tinker" with the
ground bridge. Good stuff.
Back on the Nemesis Orion Pax discovers that there are vessels hidden
here on Earth, or weapons hidden away. Megatron of course plans to use them to his advantage. This is also where something odd happens. When Orion asks about Starscream (he is mentioned in many of the Cybertron
archives) Megatron tells him that Commander Starscream is dead. That is
important for later.
True to form the Decepticons engage in an attack on a military base and
manage to steal a piece of high-tech equipment. This is a power source
for a Space Bridge. At This point in the episode Arcee really shines as an Autobot warrior. She manages to follow the Decepticons across the ground bridge and fight her way to Orion Pax... almost. In kick ass fashion Soundwave steps in and quickly uses his bad-ass abilities to ground bridge her to the middle of nowhere just before she reaches his chamber. Truly a frustrating moment for her. Gotta love Soundwave.
The Autbots need to find the Decepticon space bridge and begin
formulating a plan, which I mention for importance in coming episodes.
Finally, as a final surprise in this episode Starscream makes a short
appearance. He is accompanied by a few Decepticons, which seems odd.
Where did they come from? Guess we'll find out later? Starscream
manages to run into Orion Pax and calls him Optimus Prime just before
the screen goes black and the credits roll. Will that jog his memories?
Overall I really enjoyed this episode. Some of the plot points kind of
made no sense... but no show is perfect. I'm not going to be nitpicky
about them. I am very excited to see what happens next. So far this show
is looking to be as good as season 1... for whatever that is worth.
Comments? Questions? Suggestions?
I wonder if Arcee gets mad if jack farts while riding the motorcycle?
"ok get off me"
But robots lack a sense of smell?
Whether you smell it or not, wouldn't you be feeling annoyed if the organic kept ejecting unsanitary gases over your seat?
Same to you. I wander if we're same age too? 1986?
1963. I've been a Transformers fan for as long as I can remember. The love for them remains to this day.
So I'm guessing this quote can now be filed away under "Complete and Utter Bullshit", then?
It would appear that way.
The creators outright lying to us about upcoming events?
Seems they did learn something working with Bay.
That, or Jeff Kline just has no idea what he's talking about.
Honestly, it's because of the quote in question that I was so bummed OP got his memories back. I knew it was probably gonna happen in part 3, but when that quote came along, it gave me hope that it wouldn't.
I kinda knew that was going to happen otherwise why even name the 3 parter Orion Pax? Anyway this is PART 1 discussion, you should be talking about this in PART 3 discussion.
Son, are you high?
I... wait, what?
Why? The quote was brought up in this thread and now I'm simply responding to it again with a different perspective.
Not sense the first time... don't ask...
Why would they title the first 3 episodes Orion Pax if they weren't going to resolve the Orion Pax story line? It wouldn't make sense to title the episodes for a story line they had no intention of resolving. If the episodes were titled "Project Iacon" then I could see the story line lasting longer with Optimus not getting his memories back. As it is the title kinda gives away the fact that Orion Pax is not lasting any longer than the 3 parter.
Doesn't it get kinda confusing having the same discussion in multiple topics? And perhaps someone who hasn't seen part 3 yet might be avoiding topics about part 3 so there aren't spoilers. Though as I said above nothing was really spoiled sense I knew it was going to happen anyway but I didn't expect to click on the part one discussion to see people discussing part three.
Should either change the title so you can talk about all 3 parts in the same topic or keep part 2 and 3 discussion off here.
If Jeff Kilne has been proven wrong, I am certainly hoping episode six will.
Sorry, but no. Look at how many other episodes of... anything, really, that contained specific characters' names in the title. In many, many, many cases, those aren't the only episodes said characters are featured in.
Not really. It's not that complicated. The quote/interview was brought up in this topic; why should I discuss it in a thread where it wasn't?
Perhaps the quote could still hold true, if they introduce Ultra Magnus and/or a group of rogue Autobots.
Separate names with a comma.
