Nope, the Encore was the single-cassette mold: Encore: Soundwave - Transformers Encore Reissues Encore Reissues at BigBadToyStore The Hasbro Classics reissue was Soundblaster in blue.
Hmm, I'll be damned. Guess I never took a close enough look at my encore and the TRU version to notice, thought it was double for some reason(they're packed in boxes). Even better then if Hasbro sees a potential market for just issuing the encore line in the US. Also makes the 50 bucks and including 4 cassettes a better deal.
IMO, this is clearly Hasbro's attempt to move another reissue after 25th Anniversary Optimus Prime failed to sell in huge numbers. I guess Soundwave was going to be the second figure in the line, but without retailer support, there's just much Hasbro can do. Exactly! I need one of those TF fan ID cards. -airfox
can't wait to get soundwave and the four cassettes gonna have to be through ebay though i live in canada and sadly can't make it to SDCC.. looks great though i showed my son and he was excited also
As I've already said in another Thread, I'd have liked to have seen Soundwave in Movie or music player colors of White & Blue. or them to do Soundblaster - as Soundblaster follows the theme of Black repaints for the convention better and also Soundblaster is less often issued and more expensive to buy than Soundwave who's been out repeatedly in recent years. Now if they'd included the later more interesting Cassettes I'd have been more excited. - they also could have made some more Classics/Cybetron toys as black box special editions Universe toys and sold them there. Heck I'd have even liked to have seen Cybertron Quickmix repainted as Mixmaster or Mudflap as Hook as a convention toy.
P.s. They also could have repainted an Alternator too. Perhaps Alternator Jazz (one that matched the Titanium 3" figure) in full size toy form. or even made Detritus our of Hound.
After seeing the SDCC Jetfire I might rethink Soudwave. Though never having SW as a kid makes me want this one bad!
ahh ok. I'm figuring we won't get 2 exclusives (that transform) this year since the one we know about is so expensive in comparison to the last ones.
