The Golden Age of Blu-ray?
Do people really think Blu-ray is successful?
Only 15% of consumers have even used a Blu-ray player in the last six months and dvd + blu-ray sales were down 10% from last year. Ignoring streaming, cable etc we are still left with around 60% of adults still using a standard DVD player. Blu-ray is a nice expensive fad, but to think that everyone is using it is a joke. And the definition of Golden Age is the beginning and wild success, but it looks like it is already in decline.
Welcome to 2008. How's that HD-DVD player holding up?
Agreed with the person above me. Of course it's successful. Sales will pick up when DVD's get phased out. It's only a matter of time before the technology becomes cheaper and more readily available.
Blu-Ray is already starting to phase out DVD's...good sales or not.
I've been told by the end of next year about 90% of our movie section at Target will be switched over to Blu-Ray. They're already eating into the standard DVD sections.
The cost of both movies and players have gotten dramatically cheaper in the last year and a half or so. We've already been offering lots of great DVD sales, some for as low as $2. Why? Because they want to sell as many as they can now, so that someday when everything is Blu-Ray, then people will hopefully buy all these movies AGAIN!
I own a DVD, and bluray player, but I find myself still buying and watching DVD's. Since I've owned a bluray player, I've only bought two blu-ray movies in 3 years! Most of the time I will rent them, or borrow them from friends. It probably has to do with the smaller catalog of blurays than dvd's, but I still don't think its a golden age, more like bronze or silver
I'm interested in toys only, can't wait for the news!!
My question about Blu-Ray...Does it really do anything for older movies? I've had it in my mind that the improvements with these can only go so far. They are also not necessary with every genre of movies. I can see wanting better sound and picture quality for horror and sci-fi movies but don't really see the point for most everything else.
SDCC no longer does onsite registration
plus there all sold out
Dang it, I'm only there Friday onward. Does anyone know if they leave the new toy displays out throughout the convention?
What's a "blue ray"?
It makes your TV run faster.
Oh wow, they're actually doing a 2012 line sneak peak. Wonderfull! I was expecting nothing but DotM.
Wait, didn't SDCC 2009 or 2010 (the one with Leader Starscream having pictures illegally taken of him) not allow photography? I will rage if that happens.
I've yet to attend a Hasbro Transformers panel in all my years at SDCC. Photography is not allowed during the panel?
SDCC!!! Wahh i cant go! :'( ... As for blu ray, i perfer regular dvd thank you. The picture is clearer on dvd in hd then blu ray hd. I kno alot of ppl that like dvd better then blu ray. To me blu ray is a gimmick bt that jus my opinion ; ))
