    SD, Chibi, déformation, whatever you call it... :)

    Here's a little trivia as far as I know;
    The term (?) "SD (Super Deformed)" was first used in Bandai's still going extremely strong SD Gundam series in 1985.
    While Takara actually produced robot toys in similar style before Bandai, in 1983 ~ 1984 (Choro-Q Dagram, Votoms etc), it was some 5 years later when first SD style Transformers were produced.

    They were called PDformers from Kabaya, naturally they couldn't use "SD" and came up with P(arody)D(eformed).

    I've only have these 2, and they are smaller versions that came with chocolate. Larger and better ones came with piece of chewing gum, I hear. I bought these still unopened, and the chocolate inside still smelt quite edible after almost 20 years, ew.
    They also came with a mini comic, which is done by Hidetsugu Yoshioka (lately famous for eHobby exclusive pack in comics)

    And there are Pocket Beast figures (1998)

    I'll post some more pics later, I've got no Robot Heroes though :(

    Should've took a nibble of that chocolate. (For science! :lol  )

    I had no idea they made a clear blue version of those Pocket Beast figures until I saw the picture you posted in the "Let's See Some Cool Stuff" thread. That is cool!

    It should be mentioned that these figures are tiny. These two are a little under 3 cm tall. They're shorter than the Q-Robo Starscream figures below.

    Technically, our US made Robot Heroes series are also essentially SD sized Transformers.

    I don't have a Myclone figure. Thank you for the comparison shot...looks like they are about the size of Kubricks (6+ cm)?

    But of course! RHs aren't as squashed looking as some of the Japanese SD figures, but they fit in.
    Mighty Muggs can be included, too, I reckon.

    Thanks for the encouragement about the 20 year old chocolate, guys...but to be sure, I should try the 10 year old chocolate and gum that came with Car Robot Kabaya first :lol

    White tablet like ones (ramune)? I love those!

    You are right, I guess in English it should be Lamune (=Lemonade)? Not sure how to explain cola flavoured ones though! :lol
