So I was inspired by Matt's Lil'formers and I tried my hand at drawing a classics character.

This was all done with the mouse in Photoshop...

It turned out 75% of what I wanted it to be. It is using the proportions I use for my icons... basically I drew the icon in 3-dimensions which makes it reasonably easy to do with the mouse.

I am going to try to draw all 6 classics toys that I have as SD picts because I haven't drawn anything in a long time.

I would like comments and such because I am sure things are off. I just hope the perspective is ok.

And if anyone would like to color it, I would love to see what you can do with it. I am not a colorer in any capacity.

Your mouse must be able to mimic a pencil. Great job on that. Now lets see it in color. :D

LOL... I lost my hands in a fireworks accident :)  So all I can use is a mouse and click with my hook-hand.

I have never tried using a tablet... I would love to read up on how to use one and try it out.

Wow! I can't believe you did that using a mouse! Fantastic, that's what it is. I hope you can get a colored version soon.

Nah, I lost my legs in a Lawn-mowing accident.

Seriously, I can't draw with paper. It is hard to do :)

That is pretty damned good for mouse work. I can't draw with a mouse or a pencil for that matter. Wish I could, I love SD type stuff!

seriously, i recall some art you did of a triple changer, astrotrain i think, an elseworld dealie - wasnt that hand drawn? (sorry for going off topic, just curious abt techniques since sometime i draw with mouse too, but i go freehand instead of using path/lines)

This was Hand-drawn and then touched up in photoshop:

    This was done with mouse-only:

I will do a 'step-by-step' when I work on my Megatron Classics SD tonight.

I basically draw a 'blocky' wireframe for the body in photoshop then draw detailed frame over it then draw detail. I do each body part separately and then flatten them all down.

If you like, I can attempt to color in your Prime SD for you (since you said you weren't too good at coloring stuff).

I printed it off earlier this morning to see what I could do with it and I think it looks cool; I showed it to all my friends and most of them went "Chibi Prime! ^O^" :lol

    As a matter of fact, two of them wanted to steal the one I was coloring in. Oo;

I would love to see a scan... I was actually coloring a print-out today with a box of crayons during a conference call at work today.

Here is a preview how I do it all with the mouse:

    1. I pose the figure in a dynamic pose

    2. I draw a chibi-head (which is a regular head but rounder instead of oval)

    3. I draw a boxy wireframe in the pose of the figure, Make it clear and draw the body parts over it.

That way I can work out any perspective issues before I start.
