Don Murphy himself gave the go ahead for this, so I thought, why not post it here if he's okay with it?

It's what Tom DeSanto and Don shopped around to get studios interested. But to be honest, I can understand why the studios were reluctant of it...

I'm not gonna say anything else till I get some feedback.

DeSanto reportedly watched every episode of G1 and read every issue of Marvel's TF comic and came up with... an episode of Armada. Except without Mini-Cons or anything remotely cool.

Odd how Bumblebee coming to Earth and encountering the kids is very similar to Landmine's arrival on Earth in Galaxy Force.

What's funny is the treatment describes Prime as an 18-wheeler truck (that's 10 wheels for the cab, 8 for the trailer), yet the trailer magically disappears somewhere when Prime jumps the cliff and transforms to fly away.

That was simply awful, I guess I should be happy the movie wasn't THAT bad.

Actually, that wasn't all that bad, though I wouldn't want to see it in movie form. It would however make for an interesting little comic book, as it was an interesting read for me :D .

Well I see the inspiration for Orci and Kurtzman's script, with Bumblebee as the first robot on Earth. And my, that is an original origin for the robots.

Back in 2003, producers Tom DeSanto (X-Men, X2) and Don Murphy (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) teamed up to produce a Transformers movie. DeSanto wrote a treatment (which is a story to give prospective studios an idea of what the project is) and shopped it around Hollywood.

Obviously the story wasn't used for the actual movie we got.

Not the worst thing I have ever read, but I am really glad that was not used for the movie. It definatly seemed to be written for a younger audience...I know, I know it is a movie about a toyline, but still.

So let me get this straight...in that treatment, the Decepticons want to blow up all the nukes on Earth to get energy from them, but THEY THEMSELVES can BECOME nukes.

That makes very little sense to me. I suppose you could look at it like they are people who need to eat, and will fight for food, but those same people can BE food if things get bad.

Wow. Just wow. No wonder all the studios passed on this.

It's pretty much the same origin story for the Gobots.

That was quite the horrible tail there, so glad that didn't get produced. Makes what we got now seem super-fantastic.

Wow, I'm guessing they really liked "The Iron Giant" with how it ended and such.

Oh god it was awful! It's just so childish, I'm so glad that they gave it a more mature sense to the final version.

Seconded. I don't want to be harsh, but that treatment didn't even seem like it took more than a week's worth of work. The plot lacked any complexity at all; it just plays out in a straight line, from beginning to end. And talk about lack of decepticon development--the Orci & Kurtzmann script made excellent use of decepticon infiltration/devastation strategies.

God, I appreciate the Orci & Kurtzmann movie even more now.

That made the current tf1 seem like a piece of heaven. Seriously I truely didn't like that treatment. Horrible. And people say the tf movie sucked, read the treatment.
