Hi guys yesterday I registered to a dutch TF forum and did not see many customs/kitbashes, but I did see a beautiful piece for download...

CREDITS go to the CREATOR of this extremely high detailed set of pictures!!

EXTRA THNX TO FISHDIRT FOR THE STROKE OF GENIUS!!!
(gonna add a mini [mp4]screen, so it can play a G1 movie or maybe schematics and such)

    So I couldn't sleep from 23hrs to 5hrs I was awake pondering :(
About what could be done and made myself a FLASH-movie covering the steps!
It covers the 10basics step that I'll be doing that differs from the standard!

    STEP1. PLEXIGLAS (instead of wood)
    STEP2. MASKING (the whole area!)
STEP3: PLACING ROADMAP (I used black&white over the masking and secure)
STEP4: CUTTING ROADMAP (carefully around the Screen / buttons etc.)
STEP5: REMOVE MASKING (leave only the places you want light up!)
STEP6. PAINTING (over the remaining MASKING-tape)
STEP7: REMOVE FINAL MASK's (be gentle)
STEP8: [optional] DREMEL EFFECTS (like Autobot insignia etc. on the backside)
STEP9: TRANSPARENT PAINT (on top the "effect" also on the backside)
STEP10: ADD LIGHTS! (maybe even add some strobe or other effects)
STEP11: APPLY HIGH-QUALITY PRINTS (the light will shine through :p )

PLEASE NOTE! pics will be added along the way :D  Enjoy!
(if this succeeds, I might rebuild my complete display-case like this :p )

OOPS FORGOT THE LINK, I got it from here:
    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/tutorials-how-tos/335802-ark-playset-teletraan-1-a.html

    UPDATE2:
testpiece dremeled autobot symbol quickly rough sketch + transparent red

    UPDATE3:
I'll put the previous pics in the second post and add new pics in the first post!
(added final paint coat + removed mask)

    UPDATE4:
this was done using a digital photo album, I made a texture map 1280x720 to locate the positions of the areas that needed lighting... but since this thing is big the chance of bending it into a actual TELETRAAN1 would be difficult, so I'm thinking 2 options:
    1. suitable device to fit only the main screen and the rest light up just like in my original plans
    2. use the large photo/movie (since it has a remote etc.) but end up with a more flat surface

    UPDATE5:
Well tonight I was lying in my bed thinking once more... and decsided to make 2 vesions. 1. the original plan plexiglas (but then use it for deluxe/voyager scaled Primes!) 2. Use the Digital-Photo Screen only for the centre screen for a MasterPiece version made from wood (yes this one is gonna be EPICALLY huge :p ) Now I just need to wait for my HQ-color-printout :(  I the meantime I'll start the planning process for the BIG version :D

    UPDATE5B: (minor update)
Finished the A3 format Teletraan1 Digital photo measurement :D  added some testscreens ;)

    UPDATE6:
screen is already mounted, but problem is it takes away a light away from the adjacent monitors and such, guess I'll have to live with that ;)  since stripping the monitor even more, would destroy the speakers and MM card + usb slots
(I know I could transfer them to the side or front of Teletraan1, but that has a huge risk of ruining the electrics :S)

    UPDATE: (STEP11 added)
When you apply the prints on top of it, the light will shine through :p

CURRENT STAGE10 (skipped 9) awaiting HQ color print! :popcorn

For those who might be wondering:
    @ 75% - 15" H x 13" W x 6-1/4" D
    @ 50% - 10" H x 8-1/4" W x 4" D

I'm sure G60 can give you the measurements of the 100% product :)

Instead of the screen you can put a slot for an ipod touch or disassemble one of those cheap mp4 players and build it into the set. That would rock.

I like this idea very much. When I move I am going to do a few dioramas and this will have to be one.

Pretty self-explanatory in that one doesn't have to travel away from Radicons to obtain the files necessary to construct the original since I've resourced it in Tutorials. If you can't see it at a glance, using the search function helps. Hence my quote, "Tutorials and Search FTW".
