PAINTED Amour-Hide: Scratch built Valentine's Day Transformer!!!

COMPLETED with paint and all that.

Hi everyone, new to the site. Decided I'd kick things off with my most recent custom. A scratch built Valentine's Transformer for my girlfriend.

Made this bad boy using a heart shaped Skittles box, styrene sheets, gundam/neoshifter parts, and ROTF Voyager Megatron's toes.

Several of the joints were made using bundles of twist ties that came with my Transformers. Its especially great for making shifting armor pieces.

Anyways, hope you all enjoy this lighthearted transformer. Thanks to Tom_Servo for the kick ass name "Amour-Hide!" Thanks for looking!

I did indeed get the build done in time, and my girlfriend loves it. I'll be painting him up sometime this week to finish him up. And also, YES! I love that name, Thank you so much!

Wow! Nice work! A very impressive original piece! I'm quite interested in learning more about using twist ties as joints. I have tons of the things lying around. Any way you can post tutorial pics?

I did a pretty sloppy job on this one for the twist tie joints, since i had to hammer this out before my girlfriend came back home from shopping. For the shoulder pieces that float beside the head, I tripled up twist ties, twisted them together, then cut them to size. I then glued one end to the body, then the other end to the armor. This way, I can bend them into shape for heart mode, then float them from the body in robot mode. If i had the time, I would have put a thick square base to embed the twist ties to instead of just hot gluing them to the armor. On the body side though, I did drill holes to plug in the twist ties then glued them, so they look much cleaner there. Twist ties and thick gauge wires would be good for making scratch fingers with too, and i'm going to try it out sometime. For the legs, since i needed to pack in alot of articulation in a small foldable space, I did the same twist tie trick that i used for the shoulder piece. Again, if i had the time, I would have made some sort of casing for the twist ties that would bend with it, like bendy drink straws (which i have at home).

That makes sense! I'm definitely going to try this eventually. Thanks for the tip!
