I'm in the "tired of Michael Cera" club too, but source material + Edgar Wright + Mary Elizabeth Winstead = too good to ignore
I read the books after seeing the first trailer and not getting what all the hype was about. Then I watched it again afterwards and it became the best movie trailer of all time. This one is even better. More Bryan Lee-O'Malley inspired awesomeness and I'm actually much more confident about Cera as Scott.
Is Scott really an underdog character? In the first book we find out he the Spoiler best fighter in the district
Province. also he is figthing Spoiler Ninjas, psychics, mystical weirdos, twin power, Robots, and he is only a human! so yes underdog most of the time I like Cera as Scott, then again I have never disliked him as some people have xD
Eh, I personally would have enjoyed Kick-asses actor better in the role. He has, at least to me, everything michael cera does and then some.
Here is an amusing little clip. Movie Awards Story | 'Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World' Exclusive Clip -- Watch It Now! - Show Story | Headlines | MTV The fight is different from the book, but I can understand since that was an underwhelming fight in the book. Wallace seemed pretty good to.
I mat be speaking blasphemy here, but I seriously think this has a chance to top The Dark Knight. Not saying for sure, but it's got a chance.
Reading the books right now after a suggestion from a friend. Just watched the spots and I gotta say I'm getting pretty excited about the movie. I have to ask though, does Chris Evans plan to be in every damned comic movie from here on out?
Just went to a free sneak peak screening last night. I know, awesome, right? All right, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was just as "epic" as it claims to be. I had the highest of expectations, which I normally don't for movies, and they were exceeded in every way. Maybe the experience was enhanced by being in a theatre full of like-minded fans. I actually have to go back for a second screening because I missed pieces of dialogue from everybody laughing so loudly. Casting, costumes, story, acting, special effects; all of it was just top-notch. If you haven't made it through all the books yet (and why oh why haven't you!?) finish them up and be prepared for one of the most awesome movies ever made!
Him and Brandon Routh. Superman's in this too. I loled when I saw him on the poster at my local theater.
Well, after reading about this on wikipedia, I still dont get the appeal of this comic/concept. What am I missing?
The misses and I are off next Friday. I think we're going to go see this. The last few trailers have sold her and I've been sold from the moment Edgar Wright stepped into the project. The artistic style of the cinematography looks fantastic and early reviews seem to be heaping praise on that aspect.
I was on the fence before but now I am pretty sure I'll go see it in the theater. This movie is just different enough from all the rest of the stuff that's out there that it deserves my hard earned cash as an reward.
Hope to see it this weekend. I had a pass to see a free screening on Tuesday but the theater was already at capacity by the time I got there.
Now I haven't read the books, but I love the game and I love the overall concept: Boy meets girl, boy loves girl, boy must defeat her 7 evil Exs to be with girl all taking place in a world where life is like a video game. Would I still enjoy the movie? I mean the fact that the guy that did Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz is doing this are already two major win-points for me....
I've never read the comics and I'm pretty excited to see it. Teh visual style is simply awesome. Edgar Wright has yet to steer me wrong. And who doesn't want to watch Michael Cera get his ass kicked for an hour and a half?
