as a big fan i'm trying to say i'm sorry to see it go and yes a small part of me is dying but to be fair its been going downhill for a while , i rekon it should have ended after 7 seasons the ending would have been perfect but no they kept going even though RDA left which took most of the character out of the show
Oh well I half expected it to happen sometime soon. After they threw in the farscape actors I really lost some interest.
Yeah, they were kinda reaching that "Uh...what do we do next?" point in their show. Ah well. Nice run for a good science fiction program.
They have another article...
Sucks that the show is comming to an end but at least they're saying "SG-1 will go on in some way."
Goddammit! It was really getting good now too. If they wanted to can it they should have ended right after season 8 I think, that would have been the perfect time. But now... new massive threat dealt with from start to finish in only 2 seasons? Lame. I can see it now, a season of more filler crap then 3 episodes of 'hey look we found merlin's weapon' and then they use it and wipe out the bad guys and that's it.
At least Atlantis will keep going though. Plenty of stuff they can do there, especially after the last two episodes.
I can't say that i'm surprised or bothered to see it go, its decent entertainment but it never had a consistently good level of quality and the running plot got laborious after the 2nd or 3rd time it repeated itself.
My former housemate has been a diehard SG1 fan for all 10 seasons. He's got the entire show downloaded and burnt to DVD, and he'll watch old episodes again in his downtime. On his wall is a Richard Dean Anderson Stargate SG1 poster.
He is heartbroken, to say the least.
It's just not the same without Richard Dean Anderson anyway
It may have gone down since Anderson left but it was still something to watch on fridays. At least there's always battlestar.
Never watch the show, but I'm sorry for your loss. I lost MST3k a few years ago and was sad to see it go. Sci-fi and I don't have a good track record. They also cancelled my Tremors: The series.
*runs and cries into his pillow*
I started watching SG-1 on Showtime, and was giddy when it got picked back up with Sci-Fi. I've watched virtually every episode live, or via DVR shortly thereafter. While I can understand that eventually the series has to end, I'm really afraid it's going to just stop, waiting for something else to finish it. I'd really like to see it end on a good note, with the SG team going on doing missions, without needing to have people die or quit.
I am sad to see this show go. I do sincerly hope the ending dosen't feel rushed. I hope they use the remaining eps to finish the story rather than waiting untill the final 3 eps to do so.
Oh crap. (at least thank God for Space, sucks that I'll have to wait for Season 10 to air in November)
At least I can see the Syndicated Reruns off New Who on Sci-Fi, 6 months after I torrent them.
No great shock.... but Sci-Fi mock us with the continuation of Stargate: Atlantis.
The sucess of BSG may have something to do with it - perhaps their reasoning was that BSG doing so well means they can prune some other programs.
Yes, they're probably making room for the BSG spinoff.
yeah BSG 2008, where the next generation arrives on earth and wears all white clothing and all that crazy kinds of stuff....
Well I'll be sad to see it go, but it's been a great 10 years.
Considering how little Sci Fi was promoting the show (besides the 200th episode), and the ratings slump, this doesn't surprise me too much. What surprises me is that they actually picked up Stargate Atlantis for another season, so at least there'll be something Stargate on tv. I just hope they do find someone to pickup SG-1, or are able to do some mini-series or movies.
