It's perfectly normal for the typical fan to question and criticize certain decisions Hasbro/Takara make on the Transformers, when it's obvious a better alternative was available. So here's a topic I'd like to raise: you have been put in charge of the Transformers, replacing the managers who currently handle various bits of the Transformers brand: Hasbro - Transformers Wiki This means you: - have final say on what Transformers franchises should be made, promoted, discontinued or resurrected - have final say on character and toy designs - have final say on the TV shows, comic books, novels, movies, video games and whatever related media is created to support the Transformers - have final say on official interaction with the fans, like Botcon, fanclub exclusives, etc. - have to convince Hasbro's Chairman, CEO, and investors that you're doing a good job, to justify you staying in charge of the Transformers What steps would you make in your first year in charge?
I'd have another movie series made, which would be unrelated to the Bay movies. The design aesthetic would look basically like G1 combined with the Bay aesthetic. The story would be focused around the TFs, with humans having more minor roles (I'd also try as hard as possible to make the human characters likable, or at least not annoying). There would be video games based on them, and several 45-90 minute TV movies would be released that would expand on the story, and allow for more characters. As for the toyline, there would be no line-wide gimmick. Each figure would simply be as detailed, accurate, and poseable as possible. The figures would be more complicated than the DOTM toys were, but not overcomplicated, like some of the ROTF toys ended up being. For the sake of scale, there would be lots of Cybertronian vehicle modes, mainly for jets and other military vehicles. All Transformers would be designed with an anime-esque aesthetic in mind, taking cues from Macross, Gundam, and other mecha-centered anime. An effort would be made to keep the toys in relative scale with one another. Cars would be deludes, trucks, Cybertronian jets and tanks would be Voyagers and Ultras, really big characters would be Leaders, and smaller characters such as motorcycles would be Scout or Cyberverse/Legends. There would be lots of preexisting characters, mainly from G1 and Movie, as well as several original ones. Some characters would have personalities similar to other versions of them, but many would have new personalities and backstories. For more information about the characters and story, see this post I made in another thread.
Push for more non-show characters in the TFP line with the TFP aesthetic, either new molds and/or retools/recolors (like Tracks being made from TFP Wheeljack). Push for the Thirteen media via IDW comics, find a good basis to be primarily for Aligned, but can be used in nearly any continuity (give or take some details), with supporting toys to be released under Generations.
Simple, I'd resurrect Cybertron and have that be the main line while Headmasters, Victory , BW, RID, and the rest of the Unicron Trilogy get updates in Generations.
