So, my boyfriend and I are moving to the San Jose area for his college this late July/early August. We are beginning to look at apartments/duplexes and houses to rent. Were also considering outlieing towns as well within a reasonable commute. Does anyone have any recommendations or good experiences with certain apartments for us to look into?

    Thanks guys!

What's your budget? How many rooms (minimum) you need?

Where is he going to school?

He is going to San Jose state; majoring in Creative Advertising.

We might be moving in with some friends of ours who are going to the same school. Nothing is set in stone yet thol.
We will either need a one or two bedroom housing.

Budget wise, we can't pay anything over 1500 (roughly)

Ideally you want some place next to the light rail...though not necessarily downtown. Students ride for free and parking at SJSU is a major headache (and not cheap).

Let me see if the places I'm thinking of would work for you.

Two places that are not downtown (where SJSU is) that are nice, fit within your budget and should be in walking distance of the light rail are:

    Cherry Creek Apartments
    2020 Southwest Expressway
    San Jose, CA 95126

    Creekside Apartments
    1800 Stokes St.
    San Jose, CA 95126

Both of these are a few miles from downtown/SJSU with great access to Highway 101, 280, 880, and 87. You can find both of these on www.apartments.com I believe. I've been inside a two bedroom apartment at Creekside and it was pretty nice.

    I personally like

    Los Gatos Creek Apartments
    1025 Meridian Ave
    San Jose, CA 95125

as well, but I believe they are too expensive and aren't as close to the light rail to make it as convenient for you.

*edit* Here's a map of the light rail. You would pick up the train at the Fruitdale stop (midway to Campbell). http://www.vta.org/schedules/SC_LRT_MAP.GIF

Awesome, this weekend I have three days off in a row. I am hoping to check these places out with my bf, weather permitting. Thanks Drippy!
