Havent seen much discussion on the new Samurai Shodown game so I thought I'd start up a topic on it. I've been a long time fan of the series, so it's great to see it back. Not sure if I like the switch to 3d, but a lot of my favorite characters are back and tons of new characters. (Check out J the afrosamurai. The new girl with the HUGE sword looks fun too) Haohmaru's hair is STILL gigantic.

From the trailer, it looks like you can still cut people in half as a finisher, although it's a lot bloodier this time around. Not sure how I feel about that. My gut feeling is they're overdoing it just a tad and it's a bit out of place considering the art style. The goro fans are gonna love being able to do things to Nakururu.

    Various character profiles (Japanese only)

I'm still waiting on a new 2D SS to match the new KoF XII look. That said, I'll give this one a shot too.

I'm not sure I like all the juggles they showed.
    It just looked unnatural.

Samurai Showdown has always been one of my favorite fighting games, up there with Soul Blade (Edge). I even bought the SNK collection on PSP just for that game. That said, I didn't even know this existed. It looks pretty damn cool, and it's nice to see Galford in there. I hope Poppy comes out too.

One of the best fighting games ever. I remember playing it at lunch time back in high school on one of the NeoGeo arcades.

Fighting games have to be REALLY impressive for me to buy these days. The last one I bought was Dead or Alive 4, and that was because I HAD to choose a couple games for the 360 launch bundle. SamSho seemed to reach its peak by 2. Everything after that added better animation and crazed super moves and it got a little more insane and unbalanced. Anyways, I doubt they're going to go the extra mile to make the new SS something special.

Personally I can't wait for Street Fighter 4 and I'm really curious about Soul Caliber 4. (and when I say "I can't wait", I am lying and in fact can wait but just don't want to)

I love SS but this gets a big "meh" from me. Call me when they do a new 2D one. Or even a decent wide release of the previous game.

I'm looking forward to that as well. Also, wasn't there supposed to be a NeoGeo collection with a bunch of games like Magician Lord and Sengoku?

No sale here. SNK/Playmore related 3D fighters are generally terrible and theres no room on my slate this year with STHD, SF4, TVC and KOF12 all on thier way.

I only want to play this for the 3D slashenhackerfatalities, I admit. :/ The actual combat system looks more juggley than I'd like in a SamSho game.

Apparently, I was the only one in town looking for that game on launch day because no one had it, and I eventually found it in San Antonio. I got the PSP version, so now Samurai Showdown travels with me to work :)

Hehe. I used to carry my NeoGeo Pocket Color around to play SamSho, FF, or KoF on my breaks.

    Oh yes. Rimururu as well.

Too bad this game seems to be arcade only for the mean time.
