I am not current on the Samurai Shodown series and I don't know if this is a new game or a port, but I thought I would share.

I love SS, just got the compilation on PS2. Should be interesting if they get the mechanics right. But the article has an update that it's not coming to XBL, rather a packaged game for the 360.

    So it does!
    Thread title change please!

If it's a packaged game, I expect a little more from the graphics.
How long until the PS3 version is announced?

Well last GEN Samurai showdown 6 (I think) was only released on the regular Xbox (I bought it at gamestop a few months ago (in Lubbock, Smasher) only to find out when I got to Austin that it wasn't in the BC list, so I had to sell it back for like a buck.

Long-winded story aside, this might be a 360 exclusive.

    Nice rename, Twist.

    D'oh!
It must have used the same engine as King of Fighters Megamix.
That never got on the BC either.

KOF: Maximum Impact? That's what I was thinking too. The graphics look a bit better, but certainly not on the level of say sc4 or something like that.

Was there not a samurai showdown game years ago that was being developed for the dreamcast or maybe even the n64 that was supposed to be 3d and kind of looked like this? I think it was canned, and so this may be it with updated graphics?

Maximum Impact 2 is one of the games that has been greatly wronged by the media and was ignored because of how bad the first incarnation was.

The game...is great. As a fighting gamer for the past 15 year, I'll vouch up and down for this thing. The Japanese got an update called Regulation A which fixed the majority of the issues in MI2.

There's only a handful of us on the East Coast who play...and it's a shame.

oh well, sorry for going OT.

nope. I don't remember anything like that. :p

by the sounds of it though, I've gotta check out maximum impact 2 again. I didn't mind the first one, but I didn't hunt down the second one. By the sounds of it, the game might be a lot better than I heard

In America it was sold as KOF2006.

The fault is the guard meter in that incarnation and the vicious evil ways that Kula and Alba can crush it with no effort at all.

    MI:RA fixed all that.

The game looks a little better in the new trailer.

I'm still not as excited as I would have thought I might be.
Maybe it's that the graphics don't look as good as Soul Caliber, maybe it's that seeing a character survive a shotgun to the face is a little too over the top, maybe it's that 90% of the combos shown appear to be juggles -but mostly I think it's because I see Galford but Poppy is nowhere to be found. :(

I want to love this game...but so far the various reviews for the arcade release is pretty lackluster. That and I just KNOW people are going to abuse the decapitations and limb removal for guro shots of the 'rurus.

Still...one of the characters uses shotgun fu. That makes up for a lot.
