The first Ark book is fantastic, but not too sure I'll bother with this one if it's just all the Japanese stuff.

I dunno. I buy pretty much all TF books, but I never got around to getting the first one and probably won't this one either. I guess it would make a good reference manual for artists.

Are all of the picture they use recycled?
I would have liked to see Super and Ultra Megatron in different poses.

Regarding Minerva: 1st, she's half French? I thought she was British... 2nd, Nightbeat came first. Minerva is a repaint of Nightbeat, not the other way around.

Yes - It's a compendium of the original character designs that were created for the animators as a reference.

Studio OX stuff is already all over Transformers Visual Works, actually, in good print and large size for most of them.

This is cool and all but I wish they would get into the ranks of each side and the years of the cybertron battles. If I missed them then forget this message.

The first book IS a great reference but only within the scope of its subject matter. People copying the last five years of comics will get little if anything out of it.

Right and costs around $50.00 where this book would cost $20 max.

Well, if you check the thread on the IDW board noted on the frontpage, you'll note that you'll be paying $50 for the Studio OX designs. That was a mistake in early solicits. This book will be nothing but the character animation models, no Studio OX material at all.

Yes, she specifically states her mother is from France in her first appearance, which is the third episode of the series. As for your second point, well I'd have to assume you'd be correct since the Minerva toy wasn't exactly designed with a femine shape.:)

This is *NOT* a regular comic book. It is a collection of black and white images that were given to the animators so that they would not draw characters incorrectly. Scale line-ups were also included in the first book. These books are not for story, they are for reference.
