Sam Worthington spoke to Moviefone and basically admitted that this year's CLASH OF THE TITANS fell short of a lot of people's expectations.

Here's what he had to say regarding WRATH OF THE TITANS:

"I just think we can improve on it. I think the first one, we kind of let down some people. And yeah, I totally agree. The only point of doing a sequel is either the audience demands it or you believe you can better the first one. What we're setting out to do with this one -- the writers and the director and myself -- is improve. I think I can act f*cking better, to be honest... Just take all the notes from people that I have been reading about on the 'net and give them a movie they f*cking want. This one I want to kind of try to satisfy a lot more people."

WRATH OF THE TITANS is set for release March 30, 2012.

Worthington played Jake in Avatar, didn't he?

No wonder I thought it was weird seeing him in Terminator: Salvation......

This is completely off topic, btw....

I have to admit, at least this is him saying "I have to act fucking better" then "the script was shit," "it was the writer's strike," "I didn't know what I was getting into," etc.

    Kudos, Sam.

I didn't think clash was a terrible movie or anything.. if they are gonna make a sequel so much better, then that should be a really fine film!

Sam Worthington just got some respect in my book. Rather than blame everyone but himself, he actually "nuts" up and admits he can do better.

Both Sam and Shia admitted a movie they starred in isn't a good movie and took the blame for it. I applaud him for it and I hope that the sequel will be much better. I think Sam is a good actor but both Titans and Terminator fall short of my expectations.

Was there ever a sequel to the 81 version? I didn't like this remake but I am intrigued that they are making a sequel.

Saying you can act better and actually acting better are two different sacks of potatoes there, Sam.

It is nice that he's pointing to himself, as said, but it's even cooler that the message here is basically "we're going to try." There's always "the next one will be better!" rally cries from anyone involved in any sequel. This seems like a fairly humble and genuine statement in comparison to the norm.

I think it depends on what he's in. Sam Worthington did a pretty decent turn in an Australian movie called Gettin' Square (a favourite bit of local flavour for me). Thing is, his first three major roles in Hollywood involved being for the most part a stoic badass

    A Terminator/Hardened Criminal

A Marine (you know I cannot work out why they just didn't change him to be a former SASR or Aus Commando so he didn't have force a shitty American accent)

    A warrior of ancient myth

Of course local Aussie fare is a different ballgame to the Hollywood steps. So yeah, maybe he can step up his game. I'm barracking for ya Sam.

Sam Worthington was EPIC in Avatar, but underwhelming in Titans.

Yeah, I thought it was very interesting how the two roles paralleled each other. Also, James Cameron got him the part in both movies.

To be honest, Avatar was really the only film where he's impressed me so far. It's not that he was bad in the others, but his characters just weren't as compelling.

I appreciate the sentiment of room for improvement and all that, but I wonder what Yoda would've made of this:

Eh, Titans' lacking quality wasn't his fault. It could have been better hadn't the studio's fucked with it and gutted it. I still hope they release a Director's Cut of it someday.
