Talking about the damage caused by overeager users, I noticed this tidbit. Honestly, I am surprised.

Has Sony even shipped 400,000 units yet? As much as I'd like to believe Sony's low sales are because everyone is going with Nintendo instead, I don't exactly see any PS3 boxes sitting around clogging the shelves.

Right. It just goes to show you what a disappointing launch they had. Sony is beating themselves at this point.

I think Nintendo's strategy is working though. Make it cheaper, and make more of them, hopefully that will be enough to keep them as a customer when Sony gets their ass in gear.

The 360 figures surprised me quite a bit too.

Why? It's a good system with good games, and so far the PS3 is making it look even better.

The problem is you cannot base the best system by sales. Obviously each system is differnet and has their pros/cons, but also Nintendo is using a different business strategy because they are going after a different part of the market.

Reminds me of my management class 2 years ago, while Nintendo has decided to make an outdated hardware system that has cheaper costs, cheaper price and creates a better profit per system, they know they can hit the general market and the kids market. While PS3 and 360 is going after the newer/advanced technology market, teenagers and the gamers market. THeir product will cost more to build and have a higher price tag, but they are okay with that due to the market audience they are targeting.

It is a good system, but I thought because it has been out for over a year the interest would be dwindling. I wonder how much is attributed to the unavailability of the Wii and PS3?

Somehow I feel like I'll get four different answers if I ask which system I should get...and #1 will probably be the 12-step system to getting my ass kicked by Jux's Dad.

I've only played a little bit of each system, and they all have their pros and cons. IMO:

360: Sweet graphics, great selection of games...made by Microsoft and I hope it isn't as buggy as I've found my old XBOX to be...(1st console I've ever owned that has crashed)

Wii: Decent graphics, Very interesting control system (could be good or bad, I guess), Mario!, Zelda!, attractive price...less power, possibly more geared toward kids?? (not sure on that one)

PS3: Sweet graphics...$$$, too few games right now, though, I know that will change

I'm just gonna wait. I want to see where Nintendo goes with the control system of theirs, I need to do some more research on the 360's stability, and I would definitely need to wait for more games and a lower price tag on the PS3.

Originally the xbox360 was/is 1080i but they said with some software update it will be 1080p. (Not sure how just yet but thats what I read) PS3 is 1080p, so might not be the same graphics.

Better game selection, you mean Bigger game selection which doesn't always mean better. Right now the games out for the PS3 are just release titles and everyone and their mother knows release titles usually suck ass.

Better online yes. Thats one place MS is good at, just wish it was free.

Gears of War is a great game. Agreed

Halo 3. Halo is one of the most overrated first person shooter games ever. PCs are for FPS.

You forgot Gran Tursimo franchise, best racing game ever.

    And sweet Tekken.

I would include GTA and Final Fantasy but I heard 360 is also getting them.

Honestly it goes back to the battle between PS2, xbox, and gamecube, it all depends on the gamer.

    The article and the OP.

From the article "Sony said today that it had sold 197,000 units since the launch date, far fewer than the company's 400,000 target. Perhaps the trouble is the competition: The Wii, which debuted two days later, has sold 476,000 units so far."

From OP "Right. It just goes to show you what a disappointing launch they had. Sony is beating themselves at this point.

I think Nintendo's strategy is working though. Make it cheaper, and make more of them, hopefully that will be enough to keep them as a customer when Sony gets their ass in gear.

The 360 figures surprised me quite a bit too."

All any of that says is that Sony's launch has been disappointing as far as how many units they've been able to sell and that competing products may contribute to that. There's no judgment in those statements about which system is "better" except where you're inferring it. Whether or not their product is bad, Sony is doing badly at the moment. That's all that's been said.
