I've noticed the chrome metal parts of my Masterpiece Megatron's feet seems to have delvouped some kind of discolouring filth that, while can be cleaned off, at first looks almost like rust.

I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this as well as I haven't seen any threads that involving this

    Quick answer: Nevr Dull.

It takes it right off and shines chrome like new. You can find it at any grocery or drug store in the cleaners aisle.

I wonder if it is the chrome dulling or is there a trace amount of silver that is tarnishing.

    Rust, tarnish, oxidation.

It's all pretty much interchangeable, except when you talk rust, you usually start going into the realm of corrosion. Corrosion is damage and is very bad. Most of what I've seen from people is tarnish caused by oxidation, and is easily removed.

Yeah this is a widespread old problem. What I did was use whatever means you like mentioned above to remove the rust then I bought some clear nailpolish and covered all the chrome parts with it. That was 2 years ago and no rust has returned.

hmm maybe it is a potmetal. brass with chrome added to it? I think I will do the same thing. I will remove the tarnish and then use future's floor polish to clear coat it.

I just noticed this on my MP Megatron today while re-organizing my collection.

To those who keep calling it rust, it's not. The metal is tarnished, but not corroded.

A little tarnish on his feet is no reason to skip this figure.

Can someone give me tips or product names for removing this. I want to make sure the stuff I use won't damage the plastic.

Edit: this is an old thread, but still, help :)

    MP Megatron

I know I'm late to the game but I just ordered my MP Megatron today and I was wondering does he often already have cosmic rust when you get him out of the box? (I ordered him factory sealed)
