If Hasbro did this instead of the trash IDW head I would've gotten this. But I went Takara. I'm not upset about this. Takara's deco is closer to the G1 toy and it's got painted rims with a color matched Titan Master vehicle. Oh yeah and the Titan Master itself is painted in it's 'bot mode. Unless this is a clever repack of the Takara head I highly doubt the head on this guy is painted up too.

 

What the hell? Unexpected but cool.

 

Kermit, where do you live? I just dropped by my Wal Mart in Orange, CA and saw one just like that. (Didn't take a picture though. Should have lol) I'm short on money, otherwise I would have bought it.

Hm Hardhead with the Takara head but in Hasbro colors would be nice. But then again, I already have Quake pre-ordered and don't want two of the same mold.

 

This is huge!! I hate that mold for Chromedome but the head almost makes it work. I wouldn't drop a whole 15 bucks on that but if they're 10 again I could see myself getting that.

 

How the hell this this happen in the first place?

That or maybe Hasbro used the Takara head while Takara was using the IDW mold to make it's exclusive box set?

This sighting has obviously been spotted by two different boardmembers and it's definitely news.

 

My Walmart had a whole new case yesterday, I'll check in a couple hours on the way to work. I have the original sealed still (and the Takara one, for that matter). If they have it, I'll take a pic of all three side by side

Can't see Hasbro suddenly spending a little more extra on the paint budget. Takara head + unpainted Titanmaster pretty much seals the deal.

 

Well now if they don't want the Hasbro head they don't have to pay import fees and shipping to get the Chromedome they prefer.

 

Exactly. I'd buy a second Chromedome to get the Takara head in a heartbeat.

 

Shoot, and I was just thinking about getting the Takara version. This is veeeeery interesting.

 

Well, if they truly want a faithful G1 Chromedome they should import the Takara version since it has a more accurate paintjob. Buying the Hasbro version with the G1 head is just doing it half-assed.

(By the way, I have both version and I far prefer Hasbro's. Takara's paint scheme is simply too bland).
