I received some information from a reliable source (that will remain anonymous per request):
I'm one stoked TF-fan.
One can only hope. I got into Alts way too late.
It would be nice to see a "Rebirth" on the line
SuperQ, I know you're an upstanding member of this board. I also know your post was not made on April 1st.
If this "Collector's Line" does indeed come to be and is either a continuation of or an even better version of Alternators...well, you sir have delivered to this TF fan some of the best news this year.
Wow. Interesting news. Cool for those of you still collecting Alternators. Myself, I've humbly bowed out of that race and will continue to sit out... only one I have left is Nemesis Prime and unless something strikes a similar fancy with me I won't be picking any more up.
Still, good for you guys whom held out hope that this line would come back.
Though, you got to wonder if the secondary market will expand even further as people like me who've sold off their Alternators try to get them back (I won't, but you know there will be those that will).
This part doesn't make sense. Classics didn't ridiculously go up in price until after the movie... long after we already knew Hasbro had decided to do Universe with Classics 2.0. The timing's right for such a scenario to be possible with Alternators, if this info is accurate, but that couldn't have happened with Classics.
for some reason I found the FP editorial 'tfw has found some interesting news concerning TFs' I can't put my finger on it but I LOLd
yay to new alts!
i sure hope they make like a alternators 2.0 like universe is just classics 2.0
Maybe the other high price items they noticed were the masterpiece figures. Especially Starscream. Could they be thinking of alts as well as more realistic military vehicles ( like Starscream )?
As soon as Hasbro realizes the generation of collectors and fans who grew up with Transformers are going into their forties, they'll know that they're becoming wealthier and will probably be willing to spend more on quality items from their childhood. I know Bandai is doing this with Gundam, and they dominate almost half the toys/hobbies market in Japan.
Well that's just some of my reasons (no offense to the older, or soon-to-be-older fans).
Okay, if the big-wigs can notice the prices on Alts, then why can't they notice the prices on Dai Atlas, Sky Garry, Grandus, Deathsaurus, Black Zarak, Star Saber, Overlord, etc.??? They NEED to reissue all those guys. Most of us missed them & can't afford them now.
2009 will be a great year for Alts/Bt's, this great news!
Awesome, can't wait to see what happens.
Very exciting to my head, but not the wallet in my back pocket.
None of those are Hasbro issued toys. They're ALL toys that were only released in Japan.
Very cool news.....good to see that the Alt line may get a revival it was my fave of all time.
And there was much rejoicing.
That is all.
Well, if they can notice the price on eBay, you'd think they'd also notice the fact that the line sells abysmally in stores. Hell, the main reason eBay prices are so high is because the line had such piss poor distribution that it was almost impossible to find new figures on the shelves.
If the Alt line really does return - and if any store will actually agree to stock it again - they really need to find some way to make it work better than it did the first time around.
