i dont think is true but what else can Bungie do...so far is only Person-shooters.
Bungie has done more than Halo.
I have seen this rumor on a lot of sites and nothing to confirm it or deny it yet.
Only good can come from this. I hope the Myth series gets revived, or even a revisit to Oni. And it better signal a return to their computer homeland.
But that could happen even if Bungie stays in house with Microsoft.
I don't know, Microsoft seems opposed to having Bungie put out computer games.
damn. i didin know thy did those games...
i just learned something new
Bungie returning to the Macintosh wouldn't really help me any
Hell, bungie returning to the mac wouldn't help bungie any, heh. I think he just meant pc gaming in general.
Panther was joking. Hence the 'smiley'.
i don't see what bungie gain
they have to pay a hell of alot of money to get their company back
they lose there most succesful franchise halo
and microsoft can just pick up any games they make anyway
seriousely what do bungie gain here
Well, for starters, they could publish a game on all major platforms and then stamp "From the creators of HALO" on the cover. Instant publicity, and a broader user base. They'd also get the warm fuzzy satisfaction of being their own company and owning their own (future) works again. That's got to be worth a lot of money to some people.
All very valid points. They also may feel it's worth it to have total creative freedom to work on a brand new IP without having to worry about making Halo for the Xbox 720 for the next 5 years.
Wasn't part of this rumor the fact that they were sick of the HALO franchise?
Either way, until it's confirmed, it's just a rumor...
Considering how long they were working on the first halo, and haven't done a damn thing but halo for years, it wouldn't surprise me if they were sick of it(i'm also not a halo fan at all, but I did enjoy oni quite a bit, so they are capable of making some fun and refreshing games).
I say we call the Mythbusters on this one
Oni was a comercial failure last I checked.
Bungie doesn't own Myth or Oni, Oni being developed by Bungie West and the only title coming from there before they were shut down and reabsorbed into Bungie. Take 2 bought Myth after Myth 2 and Rockstar owns Oni.
Personally I'd hope they wouldn't leave. I doubt MS will just let them go, even as a buy out. I'd be interested to see what they could do outside of Halo but Halo is what made Bungie and should always be somewhat of a focus for them.
Guess I was wrong.
Doesn't seem much different then how they were set up. They seem to have more freedom but are still pretty heavily tied down to MS and Halo for a while.
Kind of scary MS would do this too, they closed down Fasa (which didn't do much on 360 but gave us Crimson Skies and the Mech Assault games on Xbox), let the ties with Bizarre go, and now (some what) gave up their biggest cash cow. Makes me worried for Turn 10 and Rare and MS in the games industry all together.
