Will Marvel Buy THQ Games? | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors
Maybe marvel can save them like WB interactive did to midway. (And codemasters)
I wouldn't mind that. THQ does have some good developers, and if it were owned by Marvel, maybe we'd get some more interesting Marvel games out of it.
Spider-Man game by Volition?
BE STILL MY ACHING BONER.
Marvel is owned by Disney, and Disney has a very, very nasty habit of laying off developers and shuttering studios when they don't perform. Look at Black Rock.
This would also mean Disney would lock up some very, very good IPs that don't quite gel with what they are doing.
You gotta remember in all this, Marvel = Disney for all intents and purposes.
I also don't like the sound of that article where the author makes it sound like they just want to saddle THQ with their own IPs. THQ has some great IPs and it would be a shame to see Disney / Marvel just bury them to turn THQ into the Marvel IP house. I'm all for more Marvel games but you know they'd be coming at the expense of Metro and Saints Row 4, for example.
I hope metro last light gets released before this happens. (If it happens)
I believe Marvel have a pretty good deal with Disney and remain mostly autonomous, not quite as much as Pixar, but still, they have a good amount of freedom. And is taking Marvel games away from Activision a bad thing? Nope.
