It's an inverted pic so you can see it better. That is the G2 Autobot symbol right. Ruination is a decepticon right? Anyone know what's up with this?

In Car Robots an upside-down G2 Autobot symbol was used to show the would-be Autobots who were turned into Decepticons. Scourge/Black Convoy featured them as well, though usually they are black.

Wasn't the reason for this because Black Convoy, being a straight repaint of Laser Optimus Prime, sported molded G2 Autobot logos on his discs, and thus Takara decided to turn the logos upside down?

I didn't know it was supposed to be there. i was rewatching RiD and noticed the red G2 Autobot symbol there, thought it was kind of odd. I guess i never noticed it before because they really don't show the symbols on the characters that often on the characters during the show.

Predacon & decepticon symbols in the lower left hand corner. Did they have more issues than a comic book collector or what?

I quite like the inverted Autobot logos on them. It fits their "corrupted Autobots" storyline.

Nah, the people bringing it over changed it on purpose. A lot of RID plot, character names, in-references, etc. were written/rewritten to be closer to G1. Use of the Decepticon symbol is just one of many changes (also, calling them "Deceptions" instead of the Japanese name, "Combatrons"). And of course they weren't going to digitally alter every frame that showed the Combatron logo (i.e. the upside G2 Autobot logo). That costs a lot of money. So they just did what they could. And the American Scourge toy has Decepticon symbols instead of Combatron symbols as well :>

Ihate to say I knew that, but I knew that. I always assumed it meant they were corrupt Autobots, but the Takara desision one makes more sense.

That's the way I heard it. Always found it interesting that a whole new faction logo was created for the sake of not wanting to do a little bit of remolding. (Then Hasbro releases Scourge for RiD with G1-based Decepticon symbols, and remolds the discs)

That along with the red translucent plastic instead of pink-ish red, it amazes me that it was Hasbro that went the extra mile to make the figure better...

Indeed. But it should be noted that there was a considerable amount of time that it seemed we in the US wouldn't get the figure at all. I believe that Hasbro even said during a BotCon that they were on the fence about it. It finally was done as a Toys R Us exclusive near the end of the line.

Well, the line had been produced in Japan, and was out for nearly a year before Hasbro seemed to even officially mention it, let alone annunce that they would port it over. (Which is why I have a large Car Robots collection, and watched their toon, and skipped most of Robots in Disguise.)

Takara wasn't willing to go in on a whole new series of molds, and used "stock" figures to fill out the ranks; really only the car brothers and God Fire Convoy were created for the series. By removing the electronics, and keeping the G2 Autobot symbol, Black Convoy made an affordable villain. By having the upsidedown logo as the Combatron logo, they managed to get the most out of the design without changing it, besides the cartoon was for a japanese audience, not an american one.
