Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything, and I wanted to save something good for my return. This figure, along with several others, has been sitting on my bench for a little over 2 months, lying in wait until I found a new camera suitable to showcase him with. I finally found what I wanted, so away we go! Obviously, Stepper was created with the RTS Jazz mold, and a Nightstick that was stolen from BIS Cyclonus. For this particular figure, I went the extra mile on prep work, sanding nearly every surface of his alt mode with 1400 grit sandpaper before a coat of HoK adhesion promoter. I also scoured the figure for rub spots and imperfections, hitting them with the Dremel and sandpaper to eliminate any possible chips in what was going to be an ultra gloss finish. After the everything was cleaned and primed, I laid down 4 very thin coats of HoK gloss black, which was then wet-sanded til smooth as glass. Then, 3 thin coats of Testor's Wet-look Lacquer clear, which was also wet-sanded. Then came the fun part, my third attempt at a true-fire paint job, which was applied in about 13 different layers of white, yellow, candy red, and candy tangerine. I'm still getting the hang of this technique, but I'm fairly satisfied with the results seen here. After the alt mode was squared away, it went through another round of clear coat, wet sanding, and polishing before being set aside for curing. I then base coated the rest of the parts in HoK flat black, and applied various Testor's Model Master enamels for detailing, and airbrush shaded some HoK flat white. All of the bot mode parts were then coated in Testor's Dullcote, for a little contrast against the gloss car parts. He sat for about 4 weeks before he was reassembled, and has been sitting for 2 months since, so the paint at this point is about as durable as can be. He'll be going up on ebay, so some lucky person will be able to put him on their shelf in the next few days. I do not plan to re-create this figure, so for those who are interested, I suggest some strategic bidding. Enjoy!
