I like the symbols due to the g1 toy throwback but i want to know since i've seen pictures....... When you take the rub signs off are there regular colored autobot or decepticon symbols under there or are they sticker people put on?

I also think that some of them even without the symbols make it obvious as to their faction. Even if perceptor has neutral yellow optics.

I ended up peeling most of them off... They stand out and are usually crooked. I'd prefer regular symbols. Reveal the Shield should have been a line of brand new characters so there'd be a little suspense at first.

Really, some of the "marketing" for certain figs was ass. Look at the back of Tracks' card at his bio. As a matter of fact, ALL of the packaging on the back showed the faction symbols at the top.

other question though... I'm about to go major symbol frenzy and remove all RUBS and replace them be regular... but would that affect future sales prices?

like for example a few of the MIB i have...
    Nemesis
    Prime
    Magnus (coming soon)
    Solar Storm Grapple
    G2 Prime

    all the new deluxes etc.

I have always hated the rub symbols. I remove them as soon as I get the figure out of the packaging.

Reveal the Shield, IMO, was a line full of potential. Unfortunately, most of that was wasted. Having the Faction Insignia on the back of the box destroyed the "reveal", as did using characters whose names had trademark issues (e.g. Autobot Jazz). Using well known characters instead of lesser or unknown ones was also a stupid move. Give people a reason to use the rubsigns. G2 Optimus Prime would have been a good Generations release, replacing him with someone like, for example, Thunderwing.

With this said, all my figures retain their rubsigns. Better to keep an insignia placeholder than nothing at all.

I always removed them. If the G1 figures werent so old, I'd remove the rub signs off the ones I have too. Really whats the point of having a rub sign with a bot or con logo on the same figure?

Cyclonus black part came off leaving a clear Dcon logo, so I used clear tape and put it on like that. So after learning that, I did the same for Rodimus as well. With Jazz I printed off a bot logo and slap it on and Lugnut I made into a Vehicon. Wreckgar has no faction symbol at all now.

So cyclonus does have a d-con symbol under that rub sign? And rodimus has an autobot symbol?

No, what he's saying is that the layers of the rubsign separated, and he put the upper layer back on.

The rubsigns are made by putting a transparent layer with a black mask over a layer of material that changes color with body temperature heat, but reverts to black at cooler temperatures. So when you "rub" them, the friction and your body heat warm up the material, it changes color and shows through the part of the top layer that was left transparent, making the symbol appear.

No. Also of note they are talking about the old rubsigns, that were in two parts, not the new, borderless ones seen in RTS.

Not to much. in fact if you spend $15 on other lables from them you get a sheet of con and bot symbols for free.
